  1. An uncounted number of artillery shells - some unexploded - litter the bottom of Lake Erie off Ottawa County. U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced yesterday $1.4 million was made available through the U.S. Department of Defense to begin a massive cleanup effort. The Defense Department will use recently developed sensing and mapping technology to identify munitions on both land and water. "We're trying very hard to do what we can to get this major cleanup started," Miss Kaptur said. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060809/NEWS06/608090427
  2. I am already planning on talking with him. I just had to rant about loosing "my" deer haven that I have been hording to myself
  3. I ran into my sister-in-law today. She was quick to tell me that her "new" boy friend would be deer hunting on my father-in-laws property this year. She was also quick to tell me that he mostly bow hunts. I was quick to tell her that bow hunting is about the only deer hunting I do. After that she told me to tell my wife "Hi", turned and walked away. My father-in-law has 70 acres that I have been deer hunting since 1998. I have been the only one deer hunting it this whole time....except for the trespasser that I can not seem to catch He has it enrolled into the CRP program, and has to cut it every year or two. Every year I spend close to 20 hours of my time sitting on a tractor brush hogging it all down for him. Why??? This is my way of saying "Thanks for letting me deer hunt on your property". I am very serious when it comes to deer hunting. I am very scent conscious. I shower with scent free soap and where a scent lock suite when I hunt. I never hunt the same stand two days in a row. I try not to hunt the property more than twice a week. I know what happens to the deer hunting when there is too much pressure. People that do not deer hunt do not understand what hunting pressure does to a property. I went out today and pulled down my deer stands. OK....RANT OVER :angry2:
  4. Nice job Mike! I will shoot you with a PM with details about what time to meet us on Saturday.
  5. Charter fishing operator Jim Barta says it happens every time he conducts a seminar: Somebody asks whether fish caught in Michigan waters are safe. "They'll say, 'You don't really eat those fish, do you?'" Barta says. He does eat them -- perch, bluegill, bass, pike. Two or three times a week during the spring walleye run; once or twice weekly the rest of the year. From the same waters that provide the fish served in many Michigan restaurants, he says. "The fish are fine to eat as long as they're cleaned and prepared properly," says the 57-year-old Lincoln Park resident, who takes customers fishing on the Detroit River and Lake Erie. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060806/METRO/608060325
  6. As of Sunday, operating a boat while drunk will get you the same stiff penalties as an arrest for drunken driving. Supporters of the bill passed by the Legislature in June and signed into law in July by Gov. George E. Pataki note that 28 percent of fatal boating accidents involved alcohol in 2004, the latest year for which statistics are available. Under the new law, a first conviction for boating while intoxicated would be a misdemeanor with a sentence of up to a year in jail, instead of 90 days in years past. The fine would increase to $1,000 from $500. A second conviction in 10 years would be a Class E felony, carrying up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. A third conviction in 10 years would be a Class D felony with a sentence of up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The maximum fine for boating while ability impaired will rise to $500 from $350.

    Sorry

Anyone who is a supporting member has been banned from flashchat. The supporting member usergroup is a custom usergroup that I created. When I orginally installed flashchat, I had to modify a file to allow this usergroup access to flashchat. When I reinstalled flashchat, I forgot about adding this group to the list of usersgroups being able to access it. I modified the file and the issue should be resolved. Let me know if anyone is still having issues with the chat room. Sorry, Mike
  16. This is on hold for now. There is not a working "Links" software that is compatible with vb3.6.0 yet
  17. I will be testing this also. How many times are you flashing your baits?
  18. vBulletin has released a new version of software, vb3.6.0. This will require some down time on the site for me to upgrade the software. I have not decided when I will do the upgrade. Maybe Friday night.

    My ISP

My Internet Service Provider has been on the brink for the last 4 or 5 weeks. I can not tell you how many phone calls I have made to them because I can not connect. Each time I talk with them, they always want to trouble shoot my computer. I have 2 computers at home, and my neighbor accross the street has 2 computers, and another neighbor up the road has one and we all have the same ISP. All of us are having the same problem. I have no less than 20 phone calls to my ISP with the problem. Yesterday, I had was not able to connect during the chat, and called my neighbor to see if he could connect. He could not connect either. So...I called the ISP again. This time I was told that the problem might be on their end. This is what I have been trying to tell them for the last 4 or 5 weeks Hopefully they will figure out what the problem is on their end and will get it fixed.

  22. I need a list of names that are planning on being in the big fish contest for the outing. The entry fee is $10. We will be weighing big fish at the tent site at fishermans landing at 12:30pm. More than likely, the pay back will only be one spot. Who would like to be in the big fish contest?
  23. SAUGATUCK -- Around 7:30 Tuesday night, a 25-year-old Wyoming man who was fishing off the south pier where the Kalamazoo River meets Lake Michigan in Saugatuck jumped into Lake Michigan to cool off. Strong currents and big waves contributed to the man becoming tired and unable to swim back to the pier. The victim's friends used fishing poles and fishing line to try and save him. The man was able to grab the fishing lines but became too tired and went under the water. Allegan County dive teams found the man's body a couple of hours later. His name has not been released. Authorities think the victim's family lives out of the country.
  24. FinweaverII won the Pro division, and Billy Jack won the Am division of the Salmon Splash at Manistee this past weekend. Big fish of the tourney.....28.40 lbs! Nice king for Lake Michigan Did any of our members fish it?
  25. Tim(Dv8oR) gave me a bump on the radio before he headed out and asked me to take a look at the weather radar. The radar did not show anything. Then my ISP went down again. When it finally came back up, I checked the radar again. There is a color scale on the bottom of the radar that shows the intensity of the storm. The radar image had small spots in the storm that maxed the scale out! I sure am glad you came off the lake Tim. I hope they find the ones that are lost. Like the coast guard said in the report. Its like trying to find a volleyball in Lake Michigan
