1st Annual GLF Texas Hold 'Em Event Official Sign Up
GLF replied to Dv8oR's topic in General Discussion
Talk about a late night. I got home at 3:30am. There were 14 of us that showed up to play. More food than you could shake a stick at. The games started at 8pm. We had 2 tables of 7, and everyone had $1,000 worth of chips. Each table played their own game until there was 4 players remaining. Then, we grouped the 4 players left from each table into 1 table and started over with $1,000 worth of chips. Somewhere's around 2:30am, it was decided the 3 remaining players would count their chips to determine who ended up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Congratulations: Heavy Action(1st), Dv8oR(2nd), and Fishingmachine(3rd). Who knows who would have one if they would have played till the end. This was a lot of fund and I would like to do this again. I am thinking this needs to start around 2pm next time. Whens the next one? -

You will hear lots of different rod lengths to use. Myself, I have core on 8' and 8 1/2' rods. Some people even use 7' rods for core. If you are planning on running lead core without down riggers, you will need to use some inline planer boards. These will get your leadcore off to the side of your boat, and out of the way. The last thing you want is your lead straight out the back of your boat and fighting a fish. You can run at least 3 lead core off each side of your boat with inline boards or big boards. Put down 2 - 4 down riggers, 2 - 4 dipsey divers, along with 6 lead core, and you have quite the spread.

We will be having a MiStinger Challenge to go along with our outing. We will have the tournament in the morning, then share in on the pig roast with the powder puff salmon league. Deb(manager at Fishermans Landing) says everyone is invited to the pig roast. Approximate cost per person for the pig roast is $7.50. After the pig roast, everyone is invited to the camp fire(s) to swap fishing tales. The lure package will consist of: 3 Magnum Spoons 4 Stingray Spoons 1 Sidekick 1 Slasher 2 Flies I will be getting a price for the lure package within the next week. All lure packages must be prepaid before the event. If you do not show up for the tournament, your lure package will be donated as a prize at the tournament, and your money will not be refunded. In the event you sign up for the challenge and can not make it, you may try to find someone to fish in your place. The lures in your package are the only lures you are allowed to use. If you loose one or all of your baits, you will not be able to replace it/them with lure(s) from your box. You will receive your lure package the morning of the tournament. Fishing Event Rules: 1- Must pay entry fee at 4:30am(If you cannot make it and you think that you will be late than please call my cell phone) 2- All fishing events start at 5 am and must pull lines at 11am. 3- Weigh in starts at 12:30(If you get called two times at the weigh in and you are not there. There will be no more throwing back fish or less they are under size. If you limit out on kings you might as well go in, because you are most likley to get kings most of the time anyways. Remember your fish counts as 10 points now and it does not matter what fish you get. 11- NO charter captains.

I know its a long ways off, but the plans are in the making. We will be having our 2nd Annual Great Lakes Fisherman outing on 11 August at Fishermans Landing. I have the date in the books at Fishermans Landing already. This coincides with the 12 August West Michigan tournament at Muskegon. This year we will have a tournament instead of a big fish contest. I will have more details about the tournament after I have everything in place. I have spoken with Deb at Fishermans Landing, and there is also a powder puff salmon tournament that will also be going on out of the landing. This tournament will start after ours and end after ours. After their tournament, there will be a hog roast, and all of our members are invited. There is a fee of $7.50(I will double check and confirm the price) if you wish to eat. I will have a follow up post after I have all of the details worked out. Book your camp site for both days.

So far its a 3 way tie. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all received the same amount of votes. I have not voted yet. I am thinking Monday may be the way to go. Our fishing stories from the weekend will be fresh and not to far stretched. On another note. The chat room may be used any day of the week. You are welcome to use it any time you wish.

Welcome aboard Chris. Thanks for taking the time and doing an introduction. If you need anything, let out a yell. Mike

Welcome to the site Rick. Thanks for taking the time and doing an introduction. Sorry I have not replied sooner. I debated on replying to threads in this area because I am not a charter captain. I have decided to reply to the welcome messages and will leave the captains discussion area, alone for the captains. If you need anything, let out a yell!

I have deleted the rule reguarding links in signatures. It is OK to have a live link in your signature for your site.

John, I can not help you on the other sites, but just say the word and I will make the change here. Mike

Great pics Rich! What did you catch them on? -
I was trying to talk DIRTY DOG into getting his boat out today. Unfortunately, once he pulls his boat out of storage, it has to stay out. I have a feelling the cold weather is on its way. I have also heard the brown bite is hot at any of the warm water discharges. I wish I was going with you. I look forward to seeing a report and pictures of your catch.
