I purchased a boat in the fall with nothing on it. I found a GREAT deal on a new Lowrance lcx-111c. I also picked up three Big Jon down riggers to do the rigger work. I am guessing we are only two months away from fishing the Great Lakes(Except Superior). What did you add, or are planning to add, to your arsenal/boat during the off season?

I will vouch for this. I went out with Hit Man charters in 4' - 8' waves last year. We ran 3 boards off each side of the boat. The rubber band kept the boards from releasing.

Welcome to the site! You can wrap it around the line once and put it through the loop. This has a tendancy to slide up the line, when you are drawing down the rod. If you wrap it around the line a few times before you put it through the loop, it will not slip. You can also wrap it around a few times and put both loops on the hook instead of putting it through the loop and attaching one loop.

Great idea Hitman! There is nothing more frustrating then having to reset a board because of a wave. I am going to add a peace of mono to my lead cores with super line backing.

I took my sons to the Monster Jam at the Ford Field house in Detroit yesterday. What a show! The trucks have room to run and jump in this stadium, unlike the ones in an arena. What about using a relay contact in the design for a set of hold contacts. Use that in conjunction with a momentary switch for the light. When you run the rigger up or down, you push(and release) a button and the light comes on, and stays on until the down rigger is turned off. The hold contacts of the relay keep the light on. If you went up to a rigger and you wanted to see what depth it was set at, you push the button, the light comes on. When you release it, it goes off.
