Ray, thanks for the sacrifices you and your son are making. Too many people are jumping ship on the war in Iraq. Our troops need to know that we support them, and what they are doing there. I did 4 years in the worlds GREATEST Navy, and am proud to say I am a vet! I can think of a couple of presidential candidates that are for cutting the spendings on the war. That is no way to show support for our troops. Neither one of them will get my vote come election time.

WOW Dan! Did you cheek them also? I walked by the fish cleaning station at Grand Haven Saturday. They had the Off Shore Challenge going on. There was some serious fish cleaning going on that day!

Every have one of these days? I woke up this morning, and looked through my tired eyes at the alarm clock and it showed 5:05am. I normally get up at 4:50am every morning. Thinking the alarm clock did not go off, I shut it off, jumped out of bed and hopped in the shower. Got out of the shower, looked through my tired eyes at a clock on the wall, and seen it was 5:30am. No time to shave! Got dressed, and ran out the door. Hoped in the car and drove to work. I got to work, and looked at the time clock. Phew....5 minutes to spare! Looked again at the clock.........3:55am. Looks like I was 2 hours early to work today. Not wanting to drive back home and try and sleep for an hour I decided to stay. I will be getting off work at noon today. After I get home, I will probably take a 2 hour nap to catch up on my sleep. I am curious as to what the afternoon will bring.....

Who has been getting fish on Spinners and flies? I have not had a release on a spinner/fly combo this year I have only been running them on my wire divers. I considered putting one on a rigger this past Saturday.

I worked the area between the nets in front of Mona Lake and the pier heads. I have fished this area every time I went out.

I came across this article and thought it would be a good one to share with everyone. With the price of gas the way it is, and my boat being located 73 miles away, I have been watching my driving techniques lately trying to squeeze every mpg out of my car. Get 50 mpg -- in your own car

We caught fish trolling in every direction. Our speeds were 2.7 - 3.0 on the gps.

I pulled away from the slip at 5:40am. I was nice and waited 20 minutes for a no show. We ended up 6 for 7. 3 kings and 3 steelhead. We caught fish from 80-160FOW. I shut down in 80 FOW and started setting lines. What a nice sunrise. While I was setting lines a rigger that was set at 70' fired. The fish was a small king, and it came on a fixed slider on a Stinger Stingray NBK. Our next line to fire was at 7:00am. It was a 2 color core with a Stinger Stingray Carmel Dolphin. This ended up being a small steelhead. At 7:10am a full core goes. I grabbed the rod, felt it was a nice fish and handed the rod off. Got the board in the boat and a minute later it came un buttoned This was on a Stinger Stingray Mixed Veggies. At 8:00am we had made it out to 125FOW. I had the center rigger down 100' when it went off. This ended up being a nice king pushing 14lbs. It came on a Stinger Mag Green Dolphin. Our next action came at 9:00am when the 2 color core with the Stinger Stingray Carmel Dolphin went again. This was another small king. The next couple of hours were slow, hot, and with lots of flies. We picked up a hitch hiker along the way. We watched him eat several bugs. Our next fish came at 11:00am. It was on a 2 color core with a Stinger Stingray Craig's X-mas. This was a small steelhead. At 11:35am, the same 2 color core with the Stinger Stingray Craigs X-mas went again. This was another small steelhead. We pulled lines at 12:30pm and headed in. The wind died down, and the lake was like glass. I am not sure what was worse. The Cottonwood, flies, or all the crap floating in the lake. I caught several old ballons, and a large piece of bubble wrap. I heard there is a large log floating in front of the piers in 80FOW. There was a picnic table floating upside down in Muskegon Lake. All in all, it was a pretty good day on the water.

I am running Big Jons on my boat. The one handed adjustment is the way to go.
