Paulywood with a whopper on a Stinger Stingray Craigs x-mas DIRTY DOG straining to hold up this whopper caught on a Stinger Stingray Craigs x-mas reverse! Here is a shot of the fish finder in front of Muskegon. This picture was taken some time around midnight. I am not sure why it is blurry. No I did not have any barley pops.

GLF replied to GLF's topic in General Discussion
Well....there are a couple of options. Option one: $20 buy in. Option two: One New(unopened) Stinger Nitro, Stingray in size. I will let everyone decide how/what the buy in will be. -

Nice job Scott! Do you have a temperature probe? What was the down temps if you did? Any size to the fish? -
Great pictures Frank! I can see it now....."Grandpa....when are we going fishing again"?

I know there are a million ideas out there for tackle boxes. I have an idea, that I think it will work with every tackle box. It will prevent chipping of spoons, and hook tangles. I am trying to decide if I would like to manufacture it myself, or sell the idea to a tackle box manufacturer. How would I go about taking this to a tackle box manufacturer, without someone "borrowing" my idea and doing it on their own?

I believe Rich(Caznik) will be giving fly tying lessons at the outing. We need an idea of how many would like to learn to tie their own flies. You will need to pick up a few things of your own. Reply to this thread if you would like to learn to tie flies at the outing.

We will be having a Texas Hold 'Em Tourney at the outing after dinner or early evening. We need to get an idea on who would like to participate. This includes crew members. We need someone to bring poker chips. Reply to this thread if you would like to get in the card tourney.

The outing is the same day as the Stinger Challenge. There is a powder puff salmon tournament going on the same day. The powder puff tourney starts later than the Stinger Challenge, and there weigh in is after ours. After there tourney, they will be having a pig roast. All of us and our guests(families) have been invited. The cost for a plate is around $7.00. I believe the pig roast starts around 2 or 3pm. I need an idea of how many would like to get in on the pig roast, so I can pass the information on.

I squeaked out 440 miles on my last tank of gas since I read this article, and incorporated some of the things I read. Not wanting to take a chance on running out of gas....just in case the gas gauge was wrong, I filled up the car today. I had just over an 1/8th of a tank of gas left when I filled it. My wife drove the car one day, and I drove it up to the boat and back yesterday to go fishing. I still get excited when its time to go fishing. I always have, and always will! Yesterday was no exception. Instead of the 5 - 10 mph under I had been driving, it was 5 - 10 over. I had been averaging 30 - 31 mpg. This last tank of gas, I averaged 37mpg! My wife use to tell me I was driving to fast. Now she tells me I am driving to slow. Whats a guy to do?

I made it out last night with DIRTY DOG(Terry) and Paulywood(Nick). Thanks for coming along guys! We ended up somewhere's around 14 for 20, but only kept 7. We released 6 or 7 shakers. Of the ones we kept, most of the fish were in the 8 -12lb range. I had heard a favorable report about Grand Haven. We agreed we would check around the piers in front of Muskegon, and if nothing happened, we would run to Grand Haven. We left the dock somewhere's around 4:50pm. We shut down in 30FOW at Muskegon to see if anything was on the fish finder. There was a LOT of bait fish there, so we started setting lines. We made two circles with no action and no big fish arcs on the fish finder, in front of Muskegon and decided to pull lines and run to Grand Haven. We shut down, set up, and fished the 25 - 40FOW range. There was a lot of bait fish in this range. The only thing we caught in 25 - 40FOW was shakers. Somewheres around 9pm we switched over to our night time presentation and started working out deeper. We marked good schools of baitfish in the 60-80' range. Once we hit 60' we started hooking up. It was a fire drill when the sun set. We could not get our baits back in the water fast enough. At one time we had 4 lines that needed resetting. After 10:15pm, the baitfish disappeared(either shallowed up or moved) and the fish stopped biting for us. Somewheres around 10:45pm, we pulled lines and ran back to Muskegon. On the way back, we shut down in Muskegon where we were started fishing to see what was on the fish finder. The fish finder lit up like a Christmas tree with big arcs all over. We marked so many fish on my fish finder in front of Muskegon, Terry asked me if I had it in demo mode! I took some pictures of my fish finder lit up, but left the camera on the boat. We set 3 riggers, and trolled around for another 30 minutes. The fish were there, but we could not get anything to go. We pulled lines around 12:30am and called it a night. We caught fish on 2 color cores, 3 color cores, half cores, full cores, and riggers, anywhere from 18 - 55' down. We had one nice rip on a spoon, on a wire diver set on #3 with 40' of line out. We never hooked up with. We caught fish on Stinger Stingrays Craigs x-mas, Craigs X-mas reverse, and few others, but I dont remember what they were. We also caught fish on Stinger Nitros, Area-51, Blue Wonderbread, Nitro Citrus, and Twister in stinger and stingray sizes. We also caught fish on Moonshine, Happy Meal, Flounder Pounder, and Yellow Smolt. I think the night time action would have been just as good at Muskegon as it was at Grand Haven. The night time bite is on and it is HOT!

I can on mine. Mine has a memory card slot to do updates and such with.

I have an anti-fouling net. This net has some kind of rubber coating over the netting to prevent the hooks from going through the nylon. What I have noticed, when netting a fish, the fish have a tendancy to "stick" to the net, instead of "sliding" into the net. This results in the fish getting back out of the net when trying to lift the net. I have had this happen several times. I will be removing the anti-fouling netting and putting regular netting back on. Anyone else have any expierence with anti-fouling nets?

I finally remembered to check the firmware on my fish finder. My fish finder has version 1.4 and the newest version is 1.7. I have a sd memory card floating around the house somewhere........but I can not seem to find it Once I find the memory card I will get the update done.

West Michigan's Fishing League's Pre Fishing Fun Tournament

Your crew should be allowed to enter the contest individually, even if they do not have a boat. How the prize is split is between the crew. -
West Michigan's Fishing League's Pre Fishing Fun Tournament
GLF replied to caznik's topic in West Michigan Fishing League
I have a question??? What about allowing everyone in the boat the opportunity to get into the contest, instead of just the captain? ie....anyone on the boat could purchase a Nitro and get in it. There would be more baits for the winner this way. -
Hey LMF....My father use to charter out of Manistee in the late 80's. He had a 32' Trojan. I do not remember what year the boat was. The name of the boat was Glory Daze. Ended up getting a divorce, and had to sell the boat.

The site has only been open for just over 1 year. I live in Michigan, and this is where I have done the most promoting of the site, and where most of the members are from. As the site grows, there will be more members from your area, and you will start to see more reports.
