Nice catch Mike! This is just a guess....I think you asked for the big combo. I think the flasher was a Hotchip 11" white blank, double pearl fish scale(pearl fish scale tape on both sides) tape. I am not sure on the fly. The name of the fly is on the case the fly came in. -
Scott, I am going up to the boat on Saturday to work on it. When you took your antenna apart, how big and long of a piece of wire did you use to push it apart with? Obviously, I will need at least an 8' long piece of string for getting it back together. Whats the connection like to the brass rod? Was the wire screwed on, or soldered on? I want to make sure I have everything that is needed. Thanks, Mike

Thanks for taking the time and sharing your findings. Do you know what degree cone the Garmin and Lowrance have? This may be why one is picking up fish and the other is not. I have a 50/200khz transducer on my Lowrance. I pick up more fish when I have it set to 50khz. Lowrance has a great support document on how sonar and the different cones work located here.

I stored my boat here last winter, and will be storing it there again this winter. They keep the temperature between 45 and 50 degrees. If I wanted to work on my boat, all I had to do was make a phone call, and Brett(wfs) made sure I had access. Brett(wfs) even gave me a hand when I pulled the engine and both outdrives.

The only day off I have next week is the 4th. I even have to work the weekend after it Make sure everyone posts lots of fishing reports, so I feel really bad about having to work.

I checked to see if I had extra coiled up cable last week. It was a straight shot from the antenna to the radio. I will be taking the antenna apart the next time I go up to the boat to see if I have a bad connection.

Welcome to Great Lakes Fisherman Bob! I split your post off the other thread and created your own. I am sure some of the Lake Ontario guys will help you out with the fishing on Lake Ontario. Mike

VHS is something we as fisherman should know more about. Everyone knows what it is....but how many of us know what a fish with VHS looks like?

Port Sheldon 24 June WMFL Event

I know Nick and I were not the only ones who fished this. Lets see some reports! -
There was a strong current from the North on Sunday. It was really hard to judge the speed going into the current and with the current without one. Every salmon boat should have one.

The day started off perfect. Tim actually had the spot light in the boat! I had just finished setting lines when a 2 color core with a 4oz dive bomb started peeling line. I grabbed the rod, and started reeling it in. Right before I got to the board, it came unbottoned. I reset this line and the rigger right in front of me went. I grabbed this rod, and had the fish to the back of the boat. Once the fish got to the back of the boat, it had a change of plans and made a hard run to the left, wrapping up in the wire diver cable. Wire wins the wire vs mono battle every time. 0 for two now. I retied and reset the rigger. I was talking with Tim when my oldest points at a rod and says fish. I took a quick glance and did not see anything. After finishing my story, I turned back around, and the rod that my son pointed at was standing straight up with nothing home I will listen to him next time. We had 4 other knock offs with nothing home before we scored. At 9:30, a wire diver set on #2 with 260' of line started screaming. Tim was quick to grab it and got it as close to the back of the boat as he could. We encountered a slight issue. We had the bimini top up and with the leader between the diver and the flasher, we could not get the fish close enough to net. Tim has a zipper access hatch in the top right in front of the cabin. I stood in the hatch, and Tim handed me the rod. I pulled back as far as I could and Tim netted it. This was a 13.8lb king caught on a purple and white Custom Fishing Products flasher and a Siggs Rigs purple hypnotist fly. We trolled around for another hour and were in 155FOW when Tim sent a rigger down to 150'. At 10:45 we had a knock off on this rigger. Unfortunately nothing was home again Thats why they call if fishing instead of catching!

Congrats Bev and Jim! I hope the baby and Bev are doing well. Have you picked out a name yet? -
The vest for my youngest, does have a strap that goes between the legs. I am thinking the orange horse shoe shaped ones would be the way to go. I have a smaller life vest that has the extra floatation in the colar with the handle on the collar. All of the floatation is on the front side, and there is no flotation in the back of it, so it should keep them afloat properly. I will double check and make sure its the proper size for my youngest to use.

Did someone say SKAMANIA?????? Its that time of year. Unfortunately I can not make it out either

I would love to only have to run 1 mile to get that deep. At $3.79 per gallon at the marinas, it adds up fast.
