  1. Todays cannonballs are plastic coated. Back in the 70's my father use to paint his cannonballs. Who has room on their boat to have 15 different colored cannonballs? This gave me an idea for this new product I designed and developed. This is an attractor that you add to your down rigger cable. This tracks through the water straight and creates minimal blowback. It is made out of stainless steel, and is available in several colors. Both sides are the same color. They are 12" long and 4 1/2" wide near the front. The single hole on top is where you attach your downrigger cable. It has two holes on the bottom to adjust for blowback. The front hole is for shallow settings(60' or less), and the back hole is for deeper settings(60' or deeper). The hole on the tail is for an add on pinch pad release. The colors shown are Blue Prism, Pearl, and Green Prism.
  2. Hey Frank....Who's Mike H?
  3. You can reply to this scenario also.
  4. You will be fishing the East side of Lake Michigan in late July out of Muskegon. The wind has been blowing hard for 3 days out of the North West. It will be overcast. The waves will be 1-3'. You will be targeting kings. Where would you start, and why? What kind of program would you run?
  5. This section is for the beginning fisherman to the expert. We can all learn from what everyone else would do. Ever wonder what you would do after a good blow? What about a flat calm sunny day in June? Where do you go? What kind of program would you run? Please start your own scenario thread. Try to be as descriptive as possible in your scenario. Time of year, sunny/cloudy, calm/rough, fish you are targeting, etc, etc, etc... If you are putting in a lake scenario, make sure you mention which side of the lake it is. ie....East side of Lake Michigan. The wind will have a different affect on both sides of the lake.
  6. If you click on the "plus" in the upper right hand corner it will make it bigger. Watch this duck get eaten by a large fish. I am not sure what kind of fish it is. Anyone have an idea of what kind of fish it is? Jp9BSW38bXg
  7. Big fish get caught on lead core. A couple of years ago I went fishing with Caznik on his boat with Waterfoul. I was up, and a full core wen off. I did not want it, because is was a full core, and Rich did not want it. Waterfoul grabbed the rod and reeled in a beautiful 14.4lb brown trout shaped like a football. Guess I should have grabbed the rod. Dont get the wrong impression about the full core. I put the rod in a corner rod holder of my boat, and my oldest(7yrs old) reels in fish on it.
  8. I have 27lb test lead core on all of my lead core rods. You will hear a variance on how much depth you can get out of lead. Each color of leadcore on out will get your bait down 4-5 feet. So...a full core will get your bait down 40-50'. A half core(5 colors of lead) will get your bait down 20-25'. This all depends on the speed of your troll and the bait you have on. Yes, you can run flashers and flies on core. I have 7 core rods and they are all on CT45D's. These are full cores, 6,5,3,and 2 colors cores. Usually you start out with some full cores and half cores, and end up with some of the odd balls after a tangle or two. My two full cores have fireline backing, and my other core rods have 25lb big game backing. I wrapped a piece of colored electrical tape above each handle, so I know which is which. Some people put numbers on them. Myself, I find it easier just to look at the colored tape. Like said above, core is usually attached to a board(mostly inlines). I usually have 3 cores on each side of the boat each time I go out. More baits in the strike zone = more fish in your box. Find out where the strike zone is and load it up with baits!
  9. I got a pm from Robert about this and asked him to make a post about it. I could have answered his question, or said to use the search function. Instead I recommended he create this post. By members asking these questions, even if they have been asked before, this creates/keeps activity in the forums. Not everyone has read all of the posts, and some of the members have joined long after a post was made. These new members may have different ideas and concepts, and chose not to add information to a post that has not been active in months. As time goes by, questions that have been asked before, will continue to be asked. There is a ton of usefull information in the archives, but lets try to refrain from the "use the search feature" approach. Maybe at the end of your post, mention about using the search feature.
  10. I found this on youtube. At least they let him finish. 0foSFFiWNUo

  15. I will be there.
  16. Notice I slipped in a plug for the site.
  17. I placed these on ebay today. Maybe you can get them cheaper than what I was asking.
  18. Seems like it has been a long winter already, and we should soon be in our boats fishing. Unfortunately winter came early, and it is only the beginning of January. The fishing shows are just starting, and I am having some serious withdraws. Here fishy fishy fishy.
  19. I use the removable bases, and pull my riggers off when I am not at the boat. This may be the way for you to go if you are going to be trailering your boat, of if you do not want them on the back of your boat all of the time. I also have a draw cord on my riggers. Instead of flipping them up when setting, I pull the cord and pull the cannonballs next to the boat. I would not recommend using bigger than a 12lb ball with the captain's pack. You can still fish a 12lb as deep as you want.
  20. 16 more days till B-Dog comes home. 3KYuyzsjgqk
  21. You must be referring to my cardboard box I use for a tackle box on the dash. Thats my hot spoons box.
  22. Welcome to the site Rick. This site is mostly geared towards salmon fishing, and walleye fishing. I lost my urge to bass fish about 6 years ago, and sold my boat(19' Basscat with 200EFI Merc). I went bass fishing one time last year, and that was my first time in 6 years. I still like talking bass fishing, so dont be afraid to start topics on bass fishing. Lately, I have had the urge to be back on the front of a boat, so I may get out a few more times this year. I use to be heavy into bass fishing. I ran the tournament seen for 10 years. Off the top of my head, I can only think of a couple leagues. NBAA has lots of different divisions, and the BBT has a league. I am sure there are others.
  23. I can not comment about the other inland lakes, but Muskegon lake is very detailed. I can still read all of the depth contour lines out deep. I will contact Lake Master and ask them about the lighter lines out deep.
