You are not the only one who feels this way. At one time the classifieds were free. If you sold something you were suppose to make a donation to the website. After over 1.5 years and numerous items beings sold on the website, there was zero donations. I do not want a website clustered with advertising, so I am not planning on adding any other advertising besides what is at the top. I use to visit another website. It became so commercialized, I stopped going to it. Their perk for supporting members is that you do not have to view all the ads. I checked other websites to see what they charge to place an ad. I also know what it costs to place an ad in the boat trader or the newspaper. I considered making the classifieds a pay per ad. Members would have to pay a small fee each time they wanted to place an ad. I thought everyone would get a bigger bang for their buck by being able to post unlimited amounts of ads in a year, double the gallery size, a larger private message limit, and access to a private area of the website. vBulletin is coming out with a new version for their software. They will no longer let people pay the $60 annual fee for upgrade support. This means I have to purchase a new license to keep the site up to date and secure. I am open for ideas and will listen to what others have to say about this.
