The only down fall to setting a diver with just the clicker would be if a fish hit while setting it. I am not sure if a fish would be able to hit one going down that fast.
On the side of every reel there is a silver knob. Ever wonder what this knob does? This knob is a spool tension adjustment. By tightening this knob, it puts more tension on the spool, and will prevent gettting a birds nest when the line goes out to fast and stops. If you loosen it, it will let the reel free spool more easily. I adjust the tension on all of my reels. I let the divers out with just the clicker on and do not have issues.
For those of you who have issues with copper or lead core getting tangled up in the reel, tighten this knob, and put more tension on the spool.
Tip - There is a brass disc on the inside of this knob. Remove the knob and put a spot of reel grease on it at the start of every season.
The only time my gear stays on the boat is when I sleep on it. I remove all of my gear when I am done for the day. Its a pain in the a$$ putting everything on, and taking it off at the end of the day, but when I show up in the morning to go fishing, everything is there. The downriggers are mounted on removable basis. Disconnect the cord, pull the pin and slide the downrigger off.
Lots of members from this website have fished with me. Anthonyyost, DIRTY DOG, Iceman_08, inreeltrouble, Just Hook'n, Nick Gibson, nickoftime, you and many others. I am not sure if its the clickers or the fact that I have my reels set up correctly.

There was a small piece of video I missed when I was editing the videos, and breaking them into 10 minute clips so they would work on youtube.
Probably 95% of the fisherman out there set dipseys by loosening the drag. Like I said "I am the odd duck". I like to get my dipseys down in the strike zone fast. Everyone needs to get a feel for what is right for them, and go with it.
My wife had some say on where the boat would be located this year. South Haven is 40 minutes closer to our house than Muskegon. I will be at Boatyard Basin this year.
I think I would rather be in Charlotte Harbor sipping on Corona's.
Saturday will be a busy day. Haul the boat down from Muskegon stopping at the gas station along the way to fill it up(anyone want to pay the gas bill?). Put the boat in, get it tied up in the slip, then run the trailer back to Muskegon.
Maybe I will be able to head out on Sunday and give it a shake down.
