  1. Fintastic King and great overall catch and video, thanks guys. Btw, that's some fish mauler aboard netting.
  2. Dave. all the guys here gave great info., and so, follow it as close as possible. It's also interesting, as some have said, to watch your lines and see how they run, long or short, and whether they are straining long. Slow down then, or otherwise, speed up, according to under-currents. best to buy a Fish Hawk to tell the exact situation for sure, great fishing tool.
  3. Sorry, but I must admit, haven't had time nor the inclination to join yet either, I like GLF and some others yet best, kind replies and no gossip needed....good guys mostly....lol.
  4. Nothing less than an outstanding job there Kevin, keep up the good work, and thanks for such an impressive post.
  5. Some good advice on Johnson's and Hamlin Sports, though, wish we had a shop that repairs props, but we don't now yet. Gotta buy a new one here yet, thanks.
  6. I've got a new X-4 and luv it too, the depth raider sounds productive and good too. I like adrenalin's post, with that kind of customer service, it's surprising and refreshing in this age for sure. Thanks for the posts guys.
  7. Todd, fyi check out fish-ludington.com, and also Capt. Chuck's for the current bite. Many have been making a long trek south near Little Pt. Sable for more action the last couple weeks. Good luck.
  8. Thanks & good report Todd, keep up the good work, and watch the clouds/weather patterns for safety right now, it's been sketchy.
  9. Collin, dittos on the storms, looks like you still did well considering, early blackie too makes for some stories. Thanks for the pics..
  10. The Sauble Resort is always a very nice landing/camp with cottages and boat rentals if you haven't heard of it, good prices too. Clean and comfy.
  11. This is a very useful and polite forum Jake, thanks for joining in the fun.
  12. Thanks for the Saugatuck fish report Ron, good to know it's productive there yet. Nice perch action.
  13. I think everyone posting pretty much covered the reasons for the decrease in riggers. I am from the old school too, and I still agree with Frank, keep those rigger options open, there have been many days when the fish are deep, real deep, like 100'-175' down, and the only easy way to get there is the downrigger yet. Wish they had bigger cannon balls than 14#, that's the biggest I've found.
  14. Nice report, sorry to hear about the storms, they were in Ludington too this weekend.
  15. That early fog looked and acted very much like a squall line, not something to stay out and see in type weather. Sameo this early morning, nasty storms for a couple hours, then the day became nice. We found nice steelhead off the bank in 220' fow riggers 55' and 300 copper. Way too much bait is keeping the bite light and not hot yet.
  16. Nice to hear NY fishing is still up. And that Big Brown, wow, very impressive. Thanks for the info. and pics..
  17. I thought Roy Hobbs was The Natural in the baseball film, good name. I'm not in Linwood but I think you can find help on this great forum for your summer catches. Thanks and good luck.
  18. Nice catch Scott, looks like the catch is bowing the board downward it's so heavy...lol.
  19. Thanks for the update Matt, keep em coming. The bite in Ludville moved quite far south lately, close to little Pt. Sable. Although a few guys said the early bite was way in tight, like 35-40 fow fishing near bottom for bigger kings.
  20. Nice buck sir, I also have a Mr. Brown Velvet in my yard, saw him 3 days ago with two does and 3 white speckled fawns with him. The passage of my vehicle on the driveway didn't even spook them. As for my red foxes, they aren't here this season, sad.
  21. I like the tried and true older method of the rubber band too, but, I think I'll investigate the newer method too now for fun. If you run out of rubber bands/patience you can always free slide the second lure too, the boats forward movement keeps the lure in the desired place until a hit occurs. How many times have you guys caught fish on both lures on the same rod? Now that's really fun if two big fish hit, a double net at the transom. Thanks for the informative posts.
  22. I'd say EdB is pretty much on track, the most and larger fish right now are south 20-25 miles from the Lighthouse in Ludington. Fish are still filled with abundant alewives so it's a lite bite many times. Although, I've also heard better fish are still quite deep, and the season is about to explode here when the summer and south fish come now in the next few weeks, running behind due to spring storms/temps.. Another year for patience, but it will pay off soon.
  23. Good luck Sherm and Jon, I've had some problemos too with port engine this season, 2 water/oil coolers needed soldering/welding with new hoses and clamps, now carb acting up too. Ethenol most likely.........thanks USG for making gas a choker on marine engines.
  24. I tried to get a sample/field tester and got refused. But, I think the system may work well, we don't use them much on Lk. Michigan to my knowledge, or at least in Ludington yet. I'd like to try them though, money is tight in the charter biz so......................maybe later?
  25. Small lul going on right now Bill, try back again in a few weeks, it may change drastically, for the better. Try Ludington next time too.
