Nice fish TJ. -
I know Terry, I'm just giving you a hard time. I had a great time meeting everyone this year too.
-
Again, thanks for setting this up Ken. Also a big thanks to all of the sponsors this year.

Enjoyed every minute of crushing the competition right Thanks for setting everything up Ken, even if the weather didn't cooperate much this year. I'm already looking forward to next year. I'd also be willing to help where ever it is needed.

Saturday we had a 6 degree break in 195. I don't deer hunt so I guess I'm going to be chasing fish until November. -
WMFL Holland/Saugy 9/10

I did forget the highlight of the day. There was an awesome moon at the weigh-in -
I'm gonna keep this one short because there's not much to tell. Were greeted by fog in the morning in Holland. Made the run to Saugy in 40 FOW where the visibility was better. Got one fish our first pass on a 2 color with silver/orange head J-plug right in front of the channel. Spent the next 2.5 hours trying to get a hit with no success. Ran out to 150 and headed west. Picked up a small king while picking up a planer board in 180 FOW on a 7 color with a miami dolphin. Found a temp break in 195 (went from 52.4 to 58.0 in 50 ft. Worked that for a while with no success. Heard some one catching fish in 110 and headed there for the last 45min and got nothing. Was a very slow day for us, ending 2 for 2 in 6 hours.

Holland 9/6 Evening

I'd go to mono, but I don't have any, only wire and powerpro. My powerpro rods are 10 ft which is longer than I want to run so I went with the wire. However, I run Blue Diamond rods, which are soft for wire rods and absorb the shock pretty well, they were just pissed off last night. -

Jimmy, last night someone on the north side landed a spoon on the opposite side right next to big red 10 ft behind my boat. Nick has it right about sail boats too, some A$$ decided to pull a Uturn 15ft off the back of my boat, lucky he didn't have a keel or he'd have ended up with one of my 2lb balls in his boat. -
Holland 9/5 Afternoon

Thanks Kevin, I'm very happy with how the boat handles the waves, though you did end up with more fish -
Well, tonight I got the chance to fish with Nick (Paulywood) and his brother Eric. We set up in Lake Mac at around 6:30. We got one hit our first pass down the channel on a blue/white/black ladderback Ace hi 13 down on the rigger. After that it is hard to remember exactly what happened. We got two fish in the boat on a sliver/orange head #4 J-plug on the two color (yes, you read that right Ben'den Rods caught salmon on a J-plug ). One came in the channel, on outside to the south of the piers. The second was pushing 20 lbs and was fun getting in the boat (from what I could tell Nick tried to gill it when the fish wrapped the hooks of the J-plug in the net then ended up just grabbing it behind the gills to get it in the boat ) We also took 4 or 5 hits on a Mag Green Splatter Silverstreak on a dipsey with no ring set on 3 20ft out on the wire. And let me tell you, they were SMASHING it. The first time we thought the line snapped the fish hit so hard and then was just gone. After that we hooked into them only to have them come off as soon as we started fighting them We may have also had a hit or 2 on mongolian beef. There was funny stuff going on with the riggers where they were bouncin all over, not sure if fish were slapping at the baits or if they were running into the balls. Ended 2 for 7 or 8 with a sheephead in too. Anyway, fun was had by all and Nick and Eric are welcome aboard Ben'den Rods any time they want.

I've been catching fish on f/f but I have no problems running moonshines all day. This afternoon I was wishing I had more. -
Headed out at 2:00 with my two youngest brothers and a friend. On tips from Dave Ash and knowing the water was real cold outside the channel we set up going in. On the way out we had downrigger balls running into fish but no hits. Once we got outside the channel it was steady 4 footers. Turned south to make a turn and hit one on a Mongolian Beef Moonshine 17 down on the rigger. Ended up almost to the sliders before we finally got it too the boat. After that we just did circles out in front of the channel, working the edge of the dirty water quite a bit. Most of our hits on the north side of the channel on the edge. Ended up 4 for 10 or 12. All of our fish came on Mongolian Beef with hits on a Frog SD and It-l-do yogurt fly and Blue Bubble SD and Homosezwhat Big weenie fly. I was running J-plugs but they were not doing it for me, even though everyone else was killing them on that it sounds like. Called it a day at 5:30 when the waves had grown substantially. The biggest was 18 lbs, then two around 15, and a shaker that was dead by the time we pulled him up.

Nice Job Aaron, Looks like I was fishing my stuff too deep. -
Fished the morning and evening. Headed out around 6:15 with Dave Ash, our friend Dane, and guy from my church (Mike). Set up in 80 FOw heading SSW. The first hit came within 5 minutes on an 11" Protroll White Crush/Fish Scale, and mirage fly. That one was about 8 lb. After that it went dead so we started heading to shore. got to about 85 FOW and got a hit on the 350 copper and with a F/F setup (not sure what it was, Dave brought it along). Next hit was on the 300 copper with a Chrome/Mtn Dew SD, and a sunshine BW fly. That one was about 20 lb. Next hit came on the wire diver 135 back and a white crush SD with Mtn Dew BLL teaser rig. The last hit came on the 350 copper again as we were pulling lines in the 20 MPH winds that the front brought in. Ended 3/5. Went home, took a nap, cleaned and reorganized the boat and started changing some gear I've been meaning to get too. Headed out in the evening with my most of the family (two younger brothers, sister and parents). Got on the water about 6:30. Set up in 80 FOW heading S. First hit came on the 300 copper with the same combo as the morning as we were putting the board on it. That one came unbuttoned after a long run. After that it went dead. Made our way out to 110 and got a hit on a flounder pounder as a fixed slider 60 down on the rigger. The line snapped 20 ft boat from too much horsing and tight drag (first ever break off taking my flounder and raspberry carbon with him ). For a moment I was considering going for a swim because he was bloated and floating on the surface . The next hit was on my standard big paddle 110 down on the rigger but he came unhooked as I was passing the rod to my youngest brother. The it went dead again. We headed back in and got a hit in 90 FOW on a wire diver 120 back with blue paddle/white crush tape SD and blue/silver teaser rig. Fought it for 20 minutes after an initial run to 450 ft. Got it too the boat and it was a really dark 15 lb king that managed to wrap himself in the 7 color. The final hit of the night was on the other wire dipsey 170 out on a Chrome/Kevorkian SD and purple/glow fly. The drag stuck on that one and ripped the fly out of the fish. After that couldn't buy a bite. Headed in at 9:30 with lightning to the south. Final count 1/5.

Actually had my first break off ever today on my rigger with 20lb big game, but it was due to horsing the fish too much and having the drag too tight. Still sucks losing 15 bucks worth of gear, especially when you don't have multiples

Nice job Jimmy, it was a nice morning out there till the storm came in, then it got nasty in a hurry.
