  1. Talk to No Mo Beggen (Roger), I know he cans some of his fish.
  2. just giving you a hard time, but really, you should take a break from painting spoons sometime and come out with us.
  3. Nice job Larry, but I think you are going to have to come out with me and Dave to learn how to fish again
  4. Went out Friday night with just me and a buddy from school/work. Set up in 85 FOW on a south troll around 7:15. Trolled south past Saugy and turned around. Ended up 7 for 10 with 4 kings and 3 steelhead and a bonus lamprey. Best setup of the night was Big Lake Lures Mag Electric Lemonade on the 300 copper. Went 5 times. Also took fish on big white paddles with poofster flies on the divers out 120 and 170. 7 color with green icicle also caught a fish. SW trolls seemed to produce the best but speed control was a challange. We were running about 2.6 SOG. Most of the fish came in the 90-95 FOW range. Saturday morning took Roger of No Mo Beggen and my little brother out. Was a little choppier than 1 foot or less but who doesn't like a little sway in their ride right? Anyway, set up in 80 FOW straight out of Holland and trolled south. Caught fish in 95 FOW. South trolls were definitely better than north trolls. Ended up 9 for 12. What worked. 2.6 SOG Divers with white paddles 160 out Stinger Glow Wonderbread on 250 copper was hot early Blue Jamacian Sunrise Flinstone 60 down on rigger Big Lake Lures Mod Blue Veggie on 5 color - caught the biggest king of the trip for some reason 7 color with green icicle and fub wobbler (free spoon from DNR for tagged fish) 300 copper with blue chilly willy got a good rip
  5. Made a last minute decision to go out on a family trip tonight. Only problem was my 12 year old brother was the only one who wasn't busy. Well we made a night of it anyway. Set up in 80 FOW right out front and started on a south troll. Worked our way out to 130 with not so much as a bump and only a few marks on the graph. Turned west just north of Saugy. All I have to say it the currents right now are unbelievable. Had a hard time keeping it under 3.0 with the bags going south but turn north and I couldn't get past 2.0 with the bags out. Anyway, finally got our first hit on the wire diver with the usual big white paddle and poofster fly while we were trolling west in 100 FOW. After that all hell broke loose. Ended up with 4 in the boat for I don't even know how many hits. I couldn't keep rods in the water for a while. It did seem like they were short hitting a lot though, all of the fish came unhooked in the net and had a bunch of releases on the downriggers with no one home, and a couple rips on the longlines with no one home. Ended up being a great night out with the little brother, handing him rods and watching his face light up. What worked: 100 - 85 FOW 0-4 MPH SOG 11" White/Silver fishscale paddle with Poofster fly 120 back on wire 8" White/Silver fishscale paddle with proctoligist fly 100 back on wire 8" UV Spin Doctor with Blue Dolphin BLL teaser rig on 250 #45 copper Green Icicle Super Slim on 7 color Stinger UV Gator 70 down on rigger BLL NBK as freeslider on rigger Mag Lemon Berry pounding bottom Green Kato 55 down on rigger
  6. Nice to hear you got the Winns back in the water Kevin.
  7. Here's our box from Thursday night
  8. No he hasn't, he just tells me all these sob stories about how it catches all these fish and then breaks off when we all know that he was trying to bass swing a greaser into the boat
  9. Steelhead smeelhead, I want kings.
  10. Well it was another busy weekend aboard the Ben'den Rods Thursday night took part in the 3+1 league. Nothing too fast or crazy. Started halfway to PS in 95 FOW on a north troll. Worked our way out to 110. Along the way pulled in a nice 10lb laker for out trout weight. Also pulled in a small king and coho and another laker about the same size as the first. Made a turn in and south and started trolling south in 80 FOW. Pulled another laker while turning and a steelie just before we had to pull lines. Finally got a good hit on a diver as we were pulling lines that ended up being a nice 15lb king. By this time we were in 70 FOW. Did pretty good, placing 5th out of the 18 boats in the league. What worked. North, East, and South trolls. 2.6 SOG Mag Silver Streak Lemon Ice on Rigger pounding bottom - 2 lakers, 1 king, 2 hits Regular Silver Streak Green Dolphin fixed slider at 40 - 1 Coho Big Lake Lures Green Kato on 250 #32 copper - 1 laker Big Lake Lures Patriot on 270 #45 copper - 1 steelhead 11" white/fish scale paddle with poofster fly on wire 100 back - 1 nice king Headed out Friday night with a full boat of my friends from high school. Ran straight out of the peirs and started on a south troll in 80 FOW because of the rain to the north. Started out quick with steelie hitting a rigger less than 10 seconds after I set it and got that one too the boat. From then on zigzaged between 75-110 FOW all the way to Saugy and back. Hit some rain and got a little wet but were paid back with some nice rainbows. Caught a some more fish with the fun of the night being a triple that all hit within seconds of each other. Ended at 8 for something with 4 kings, 3 steelhead, and an undersized laker being returned. What worked: 11" paddle and poofter fly 120 back on wire diver 8" Chrome/Blue Spin Doctor with BW oily stool 180 back on wire diver 8" Mtn Dew paddle with UV yogurt fly 150 back on braid diver (3.5 setting) 8" UV Spin Doctor with Blue Dolphin Big Lake Lures teaser rig on 250 #45 copper Big Lake Lures Blue Kato on rigger at 45 Big Lake Lures Mod Blue Veggie on 5 color Dream weaver Green Icicle on 7 color Dream weaver Blue Green Dolphin on 10 color Moonshine Double Trouble on 300 copper. Saturday morning headed out with Roger of NoMoBeggin and his sister in law. Ran north of Holland and set up in 75 FOW on a south troll. Rode that south troll all the way to Saugy between 75 and 110 FOW. Turned around to pick up a planner board that didn't have a name on it. Trolled all the way back to Holland making our way all the way out to 160 FOW. We never got a hit on the north troll. Ended 7 for 12 I think with 4 kings and 3 steel. What worked: South troll 2.8-3.0 SOG 11" white/fishscale paddle with poofster fly 120 back on wire - HOTTT took 5 fish all 4 kings and a steelhead 8" UV spiny with Blue Dolphin teaser rig on 250 #45 copper - 1 steelhead Big Lake Lures Mod Blue veggie on 5 color - lost 1 steelhead Dream Weaver Green Icicle on 7 color - 1 steelhead Flinstone Glo Worm on rigger at 40 - lost 1 steelhead to a break off Double Trouble 57 down on rigger - 1 release with no one home Mag Silver Streak U of M frog on rigger 57 down - 2 releases with no one home. I forgot my camera the first two trips, so hopefully I can get some pictures from my friends. Here's a picture from Saturday morning.
  11. Thanks for coming Roger, glad you had a great time.
  12. I doubt you will find parts for it. I know that some people have resorted to buying units for parts. I personally have one on my boat right now and it doesn't work that great. I'll probably change it out this winter with a newer autopilot
  13. Great job Frank! I would love to take part in this sometime.
  14. You are right about the lake and the flies Mark. I headed north this weekend because South of Holland just hasn't been producing as well for me this year. Nice seeing you at the cleaning station.
  15. Nice job guys. We have to hang out at the dock more often.
