    I'm looking at a very narrow footprint on my boat. I'm going to have the work done at a marina. I've used big jon riggers in the past and personally like them vs the cannons I had as well. I'm looking at more than likely a side rigger from where I can mount the riggers in between the mounts for the back canvas supports. I'm not sure if I swiveled them to the stern if they will clear the swim platform. I still want to keep the boat as "cruiser like" as possible with a hint of fishing to it. That's my goal anyway.     Can I get some pros and cons from people who have gimbal mounts for down riggers as well as those who have track mounts. I'm looking to install downriggers and want to weigh the pros and cons of both. Thanks for the info in advance.

    I'm new to fishing Grand Haven. Is any direction better than the other? (North vs south?) I've gone out a couple of times but pretty much straight out from the channel. Ive been testing out my new boat mainly but was curious if people have any direction preference.

    Thanks for the picture. The boat I am looking at has a walk thru transom. I was hoping for ideas that don't include a board. Although I am not entirely against it.

    Does anyone have any pictures of down riggers placed on a 24 foot bayliner ciera? The one I'm looking at does not have any. Would it be better to install rod holders then use gimbal mounts on the riggers? Also wondering about a radar arch? Just looking for suggestions. Thanks.

    Hello, I am looking for some advice. I am looking to get back into Great Lakes fishing after almost 10 years. I no longer have the boat or towing vehicle I used back then. I am looking at a starcraft islander or similar aluminum boat. But my question is, has anyone ever towed with a 2012 Ford Edge? I have one with all wheel drive and has the towing package from the factory. It is rated to tow 3500#s and a tongue weight of 350 pounds. Ive seen on Iboats the dry weight of the islander models 191 and the 221 run anywhere from 1600-2200 pounds. My plan is to tow it to the lake and find a storage place to keep it there so Id be limiting the long distance tow to the start and end of the season. Any one have any experience with towing an islander or similar type boat that can be used on the Great Lakes with a Ford Edge? Thanks,
