Was at Meeting last night Thumb Chapter Steelheaders; It looks like maybe some of the browns that was planted in last 2 yrs are showing up , There has been some caught in the 20" to 26" range and look healthy, from what I was told that this a 3 yr program and they need to be reported or recorded to keep the program going after 2011 season, the last plant will be this fall. They need to have a 1000 fish reported on a return or caught to keep the plant going, maybe we can still have mix fishery in LK.Huron after all . Also the is a Walleye Project going on in LK. Huron and LK.Erie could be Gas $$$ for someone lucky enough to catch one , Here's the link. www.glfc.org/telemetry/walleye.php Thought I would share this hopefully I put this in the right thread:thumb:

Jason, to answer your qustion yes, but if you can get fish with a clean spoon why have to agravation:eek:, I only run a dodger/spoon setup when I have to produce fish like in tornaments, you can switch ends of your dodger by cutting the welded rings and replace them with good heavy split ring, because a dodger has a bigger bend on the backend so at a faster speed it will spinn out, so by putting the bigger bend on the front you can run up to 2.5 mph and pull spoons behind. CAUTION; keep these dodgers marked:thumb:, just run them in faster speed setups, I effectively run these with a 20"-24" leader to the spoon, also I run speed and temp at ball cause of currents can be different and make for a bad day, I hope this helps, I can't tell ya all my secrets LOL;)

Welcome, Louie Someone in the same water, maybe see ya on the water, good guys here they help when we are down.

I have curtain also and Its nice on the cool days or when its raining, but my vote would be wire divers, if your avatar is your boat you can get out of most cold and rain, 50 bucks will buy you a Mr. Heater to warm hands up.

I saw these rod set-up that EYEFULL has, (nice) I'am very seriously thinking about get a couple of dippsey rods from him, cause I been running wire for a few years they are starting to show some wear on all the eye's and I run twilly tips also, but they last thing I want is a failer when I in the fish. So you get what you pay for.

Whats Your Favorite Brand of Spoon for Lake Huron
Grant Sadler replied to GLF's topic in Lake Huron Discussion
Wal-mart has been the go too for yrs, but they all are good on the right day, time and place. Pro-King spoons have been good also for the most part. -
They have been all wrote up now and are avalible, 2 of them in Harbor Beach, 1st one Can-to-Can, May 14th w/ blow day 15th $250, I have fished this one a lot of good fish in close 50-60 FOW and a good pot pays 10 places 2nd one OFF-SHORE , May 28th w/blow day 29th $250, I have fished this one also its a good one with a good pay-out I can post the link to print the rules and disclaimer and app, if someone is interested Both these turnaments are linked in a points system to the boats that fish both have a shot at pay-out, I think its 10pt's per fish and a point per pound so anybody has a shot

Tim, I was out yesterday went out of hidden harbor, tried for perch first NO fish the Ice was about 12" then went out to the south end of the slot about 14FOW and about 14-16" of ice still NO fish not a mark the ice looked good for the most part but, there is a crack thats not to good at the edge of the slot:eek: So my advice would be very careful if you go out:thumb: because I think in a week or so It may not be safe . Heck its time to get the boat ready, Apirl is coming fast

What's your favorite laker fishing method?
Grant Sadler replied to dogfish's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
I won't pass up lakers on any trip I run a gost brushed or green frog dogger 10' behind the ball and a spin-n-glow funky chicken or bumbo-bee 20" hand tied behind dogger, drop it down to bottom hit twice and bring it up a foot and grab the rod:D thats if I have big hooks on the bottom, I've run spoons also same set-up in the pro-king turnments just put a split ring on the spoon and make 20" leader out of 30# mono with good snaps on each end , if the fish don't want to go change the speed and direction most the time rods will dance, -
Yep welcome aboard Kev; maybe send the Salmon out off G-bay this spring so I can catch some over here on the west side of Lake Huron, LOL
-
Welcome aboard Brandon, If your Avatar is the cooler on your boat, that may be why I'am not getting them eye's though the ice, LOL
-
I have not seen any, but they are out there I'am sure, The way I set mine, are I back the drag off just enough to keep it digging and going out till I reach the desired number and then set the drag where I want it, and most time on the first set of the moring It's the first rod set and the first rod to fire, don't do any sharp turns when setting the dip rod .

Can anybody shed some light on this, the reports I've heard is that when the GIZZARD SHAD die we start catching WALLEYE I've been ice EYE fishing for some years now and never heard this before. They say that the Shad are staying alive longer this year, I think maybe because the Bay was warmer this year maybe set things back a little . Someone knows the answer on this I'am sure, like Jason
-
Welcome Aboard Arron, sounds like you got it with the boat thing, I think we all been there done that, it will come don't be afraid to ask.
