  1. look out for the hole that you pour money into, Nice boat it will get the job done.
  2. or the guy that cant' seem to get his boat on the trailer, then when they finally do pull out , proceed to take up 2 ramp spots and unload all there crap back into there car. I said to the guy that people usually finish off the ramp, and he gives me this look of complete stupidity . Last time I was out we launched out of south shore instead of Mckinely . had to wait for a guy that brought his boat in and only the nose. tie it up to the opposite side of the pier. and watch the boat turn out to the end. When he finally gets it clear its my turn to get in and this guy with 2 kids on a jet ski zooms in before I can get in. Then next to me when I do get in , I have to walk 1/4 mile to get my truck. Hes still trying to put these on the trailer. 2 jet skis over 20 min to get on the trailer and pull out. What a joke. My son said he was duck taping his trailer? WTH always entertainment.how about leaving your bright lights on while on the ramp, no one else can see to back down the ramp. I have had my moments also ,like forgetting to unhook the front of the boat . My son and I only take about 4 min to launch . would be faster if he could drive the truck or had enough experience with the boat.
  3. I will also write up a review, but as of yet only had one on and My son lost that one, been rather bumpy here , also on a side note , my season my come to an end early , Ended up in the ER on Sunday morning early due to the problems with my cervical spine. A shot in the butt and pain killer via Iv and a prescription for oxycodone , I was able to be walked back to the car like a drunk. Spent the rest of the weekend waisted and on Ice. Go see the Pain Management Dr in the morning. Surgery may come earlier than previously thought. Tight Lines Jim
  4. doesn't' it always seem that when you have a new person kids ect that everything goes haywire, even though you've been out a hundred times and everything worked perfect. First time I had my daughter out with us , had 4 poles tangle, and in the middle of the first two she gets her first fish on the big pond. Only makes it more fun to talk about later.\ Tight Lines Jim
  5. This is the boat that I started fishing the big pond in 2009 a 16 foot Misty harbor Voyager beam just 68 inches, not something you would use say 5miles out , was nice to fish the gaps just out side of the harbor and what I used when I boated my first salmon.Been hooked ever since. The next year and 30k later (includes boat and gear) I now fish the main lake and its awesome. Thanks to everyone that help me out , I wouldn't have gotten this far with out you and this website. 6. Yes I was speaking of inline planer boards, it was only thinking outside of the box? for me to run dispys right now , I would have to pull my side riggers out. Yes I could run more lead but there is a different action from the dipsys opposed to lead, with 3 people in the boat I run 4 leads, 4 riggers (2 side and 2 off the back corners)I could run one more rod and it would have to be either a dipsy with a 10'6" rod or change over on of my smaller dipsy rods to lead. I have to put some space between the side riggers and the dipsys to run it right.
  7. Have any of you guys ever run dipsys under your planer boards ,and what to watch out for. how was you luck doing this ?
  8. Awesome looking fish Nailer , Yea th emagic hour is great even if it only lasts 30 mins Tight Lines JIm
  9. Did very well even though it started kind of slow, ended the night going 7 for 9 releasing 2 lakers and boxing 5 kings . Just before pulling lines had a double that turned into a triple, yea !!!!! My brother in laws first trip out on the big pond, he found out that there are fish that fight much tougher than Musky. And had his first experience with lead core. All fish came on spoons but one. Blue dolphin and mixed veggies . One fish on mnt dew spin dr and a white glow fly. As a bonus Summer fest big bang on the way in , but made for a very long trip home , 1.5 hr drive that normally take only 15 min. Everyone like fireworks. Tight lines Jim
  10. Try this place , he sell on ebay decent prices and quick ships BRETTS PLACE ON THE BAY http://stores.ebay.com/BRETTS-PLACE-ON-THE-BAY I bought 4 lead core reels and poles xp 302 5 colors xp 452 7 colors Diawa wilderness rods 8' 6" medium heavy all my rods are these except the 10' 6" diawa heartlands for dipsys . I also have 2 of the cabelas depth master which I wouldn't recommend ,because of the wimp factor of these. way too soft but are still useable. I really like the lead core setups and if I would do it over I would buy the lead core first .Make sure you have good quality rod holders , not plastic ones as I did as these won't hold up . Ebay is a good place to check out too.
  11. What port are you out of Jeff?
  12. His exact words were yes and no, he was glad he went and caught a large king, and no for the weather. I promised my wife that I would never venture out on the big pond by my self, so I count on my son to go, He is asking more question s and becoming more interested every time we go out . He loves to fill out the log posted by Mike, It means more to me than he knows fishing with his dad, As I did with my father. Before I fished lake Michigan I would fish northern Wisconsin all the time , but gas prices keep that to a minimum now. I think the Smile on his face says it all.
  13. Thats really cool, glad she like to fish. Get um hooked young. Keeps them out of trouble.
  14. Well so far, here its been fair to great for me , some days the fish are tight lipped and other days you could use a safety pin and get bit. Lets hope it gets only better from here on out. Tight lines Jim
  15. Now that I have used my lead core rods for a few trips what is the right way to redeploy the out side board without getting tangled with the inside board? hasn't happened yet, but would like to avoid the inevitable.
  16. This is awesome , Thanks , now I have a backup to my wandering memory.
  17. Spent a lot of time Sunday for little to show ,2 fish ,so I decided to go out again on Monday. My son Nick is getting a little tired being in the boat so he was lets say stubborn to go out , with a little prodding he went. left the launch at 7:10 pm going to be a short night. Ran out to 75 ft set lines on east troll until we hit 82 feet and turned NE , not 5 min and the 5 color starts screaming , Nick picked up a nice 12lb king, now I'm behind the 8 ball its my turn and just get his in and 7color goes off. well still behind the 8 ball with a 3lb Coho pulled in rigger line get it untangled and let go of the line to put it back in and the rigger goes off , No way it can't be , well half way back to the boat the fish let go . Get all lines back in and the alarm goes off on the radio, Some nasty storms are blowing up and its looking pretty dark to the west. turn the boat west and tell my son that we should head in in 15 minutes. waited only about 10 decided to pull lines now . Didn't want to be caught out in a storm. Started to pull the 7 color in and 5 color just starts screaming , oh crap set down the 7 and grab the 5 . I have never thought I would get spooled on my big lake rods but it came awe full close . I may have had only 125 feet left on the real .as I looking at my large bobber (planer board ) approaching the horizon the same rigger goes off. and my son is struggling to get it out of the rod holder. As I gain line and control of the fish I have on , the one my son has skys 20 ft off the back of the boat. mayhem you bet we now have no driver both of us with big fish on Nick decides to let the fish off with a warning. (let him get off). and starts pulling rods as I battle it out with this bruiser. Boated a real fat 16lb female on a white glow spin DR and with white glow fly. Nick gets in one rod in the mean time only 2 more lead core and 1 rigger rod to go and we really have to go!!! I don't know what made my arms hurt so much, the fish or setting a new record pulling lines. Made it back into the harbor after 1/2 way back putting on life jackets, and racing back at a whopping 25mph. Not getting wet either . Next time not waiting even 5 minutes to pull lines ,fish or not its not worth it. Ended up 3 for 5 and 30lbs + in the box. What a night ,while cleaning fish at home sirens go off and off to the basement . We had 2 tornadoes last night in south eastern Wisconsin not to mention 3 to 5 inches of rain. Staying home tonight cleaning up the boat and untangling rods that were hastily thrown into the front of the boat to get off the water. 18. Yea its the biggest so far, I would like to break 25lbs this year if not better. Would also like to limit out at least one day.
  19. Looks like you have allot of room on this boat . I really like the layout.
  20. Real nice , makes me want to spend more time on the water.
  21. Wow June is just flying By, out on the water 4:50 am set lines spent the next 2.5 hours washing baits. Very slow this morning,7:20 drive by not paying attention to the rods, grabbed it and nothing there, more practice setting riggers. Not long after that port rigger goes off with a screamer, by the time I got control of the fish it had pulled out 225 ft of line , 18lb king it was the high lite for the day. 15 minutes later 7 color on the right side goes off, this was a nice fish also but tangles up with the 5 color and broke the line off, by by blue dolphin spoon. After clearing that mess decided to run only 2 lead lines and try the other riggers. Set rear riggers up with flasher flys 30 back 50 down. Right rear rigger goes off ,fish is just about straight down at the back of the boat and didn't want to budge .Finally get this one to move but not to my advantage, takes out port rear rigger and port side rigger(set down at 80ft). Now I have a nightmare , one fish on three rods, ended up hand lining the last 10ft. Ended up 2 for 4 and a lot of line to deal with. Now I know why you carry extra rods! A few pictures of fish porn to share with you, first two cant remember the date only that they came off the spare camera and were taken in June. Tight Lines Jim
  22. Well its fathers day and we were out again, 2 for 4 I think , have to look at the tally sheet. One of my sons jobs. I will post a report either later today or tomorrow.
  23. I just got out this week and tried out my new lead core reels XP 452s 7 color worked great, very smooth good drag also. Sunday I will be trying out the xp302s 5 color , I think they will be very much the same. Bought them from Brets place on the bay, very good price all spooled up ready to go.
  24. I will test either one , the bite has switched to spoons but either is ok.
  25. I have since replaced all the plastic scotty rod holders with Tite Locks 8 of them soon to be 10, Need some where to put the net . Here is a couple of shots of the boat setup . Tight lines Jim
