  1. We were out on Thursday and that stinky skunk was tossed out right at the end of our trip with 2 shakers. This one and another smaller one , can't get much smaller than this. Now back at the present, Left McKinley around 6:15 , after the last couple of trips with little to show decided to go out deep. Headed northeast to 125ft of water and worked out to 150. Found a small area the fish were bitting , first fish came about 730am in 144FOW an 11lb rainbow , then about every 30 to 45 minutes as we were going west we would pick up another one. Mixed bag today missed the grand slam by one , all we needed was 1 King . Not to be had by us today though. ended the day with 1 Rainbow ,2 Coho, 1 Lake trout, and 1 Brown. The lake laid flat by 9am so we went all the way out to 200ft, Glass flat out there. Last fish came in 175FOW . We were able to run wide open on the return trip about 12 miles, how often does that happen ? Take a look at one of the pictures here it show us in 200fow, is that bait scattered or just interference. 4 out of the five fish came on Jp Slammers, just recieved my package on Friday. Jimmy is right they really slam these things. We ran 3 of them and each one fired at least once on our trip . I am not that familiar with the names yet an orange one and the watermellon and one that looks like cracked ice. I can't wait till next summer when the kings are really active , I think these will be the cats butt. So Jimmy I will be ordering more of these before Christmas. Tight Lines Jim

  6. Great Job, doing better than we are on this side. its been very tough.water is very cold , down 20 - 42 degrees
  7. lake looks mean, nice shot of the rods , I like to see others spread. are you running dipseys off the two forward rods?
  8. what seems to be the problem with the coated cable?
  9. At least you got 2, Nick and I were out today. 2 of the smallest shakers I have ever seen.
  10. wire and braid, or you could just give them to me.
  11. Well Matt Welcome , I fish out of Milwaukee , My last couple trips have been skinny on fish , with the winds we have been having the fish close to shore are scattered . If you want consistent action you would have to go deep, 240-400 ft.Once the weather stabilizes the kings should be close to shore. The run should be starting soon. Find out where they stock the fish in your area , and that is where you will want to fish. Here in Milwaukee they will stage in about 40-50 ft before the run and during the run they will be in the harbor and up the river. I have a good recommendation for you , Pick up a book called Great lakes Salmon and trout fishing(The complete trollers guide.)written by Dan Keating and Chip Porter. It will help you quite a bit on locating and setting up you boat to fish. Look for local reports , talk to others that fish up in port. Most guys will give you a general idea where to look and fish. If your average trip is 5-7 kings your doing really well. around here the fishing has slowed a lot . it will pick up soon. Tight Lines Jim
  12. I run 4 riggers and if I'm running dipsys I will run them 2 feet in front of my side riggers, my dipsy rods are 10.6 and 8.6 . no really tight turns . my rear riggers go straight out the back on each corner. Side riggers are on a 48" boom. Like Kyle said only have a problem when there is a strong cross current.
  13. Welcome , are you fishing out of Milwaukee or another port. Enjoy you time here .ask lots of questions.
  14. at least you managed 3 nice fish, its a good thing when you can throw out that skunk. Its a cat no one likes. Tight Lines Jim

  19. "BTW.....We did not what a strong West wind on this side of the lake." I was speaking of this side mike(all over the local forums they all wanted west winds, now the water is too cold, ) be careful what you wish for you just might get it. Combat fishing is not my cup of tea, I would rather fish out away from the crowd and get 1 fish then to fish with a slew of boats get upset and raise my blood pressure.
  20. Do you do kid movies ? nice wild life you have there.
  21. We all wanted west winds and we got them , just a little too strong. Surface temps ran 49-53 and anywhere below 20 ft 42-46 very cold water. Do the fish go out deep in situations like this ? Scattered? right on the bottom? Out deep? I guess thats why they call it fishing.
  22. Rj I wish you luck , we were out for 6 hours for 1 fish, check the weather calling for 3ft waves . Let us know how you do.
  23. Did he lose something , why did he open up the stomach ? weighed with an empty stomach?
  24. Haven't been out for a while and it was nice to get back on the water. Left the dock at 7:15 on an north east troll nada , turned NW back into 60 ft ,while putting out different baits to wash 7 color goes off , 7lb king. changed all the baits as these were clean enough. Had a couple of drive buys on the lead cores. Downriggers were quite all day. Put 20 miles on , going deep to shallow. one fish in 6 hours . marked only a few fish. bait pods were almost non existent. no chop execpt in the harbor , plenty of rollers out on the main lake , 2-5 ft. like our own roller coaster. wind changed and called it a day. Ended 1 for 2 very poor fishing . Hope the weather stabilizes soon. Guess it could be worse I could be on the east side. Break out the surf boards the breakers are coming again. Tight Lines Jim
