I started running J plugs mid june and did very well on them. Ran them on riggers at 70-90ft down and 5 and 7 color lead. By far the best ones i used were the ones that have the glow in the dark stick in them. the Kings just slammed them . Hard , and seemed to like the blue glow to them. The plug is called a glow dandy , hard to find now, I was able to find 6 more on ebay, and a case of glow sticks for 25.00 . There are also J plugs that have a LED in them that turns on when its in the water. If flasher flies are not producing for me I will run 1-2 j Plugs.

That sound of the drag spinning is emblazed in my head. hear it every time I look at the boat. Nothing like that sound of a screaming drag off a diver rod.

Thats really cool, My father in law was a musky chaser, hence they called him musky Ray, I'm sure he's smiling when we have a good day on the water. He would have love to chase the big Kings with us.

looking for a copper rod and reel setup
jimcr replied to tracker targa's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I don'thave any for sale but you could try Bretts place on the bay. he has some all set to go. The xp452 should hold enough copper for you. they hold as much as my cv45d I have set up for my wire. I currently have 2 magpro55 setup for copper . How much copper do you plan on running? More than 500ft?. If its a small amount you may be able to drop down to a xp302 . but I would stay with the xp452, of the magpro55, the best would be a convector series of 45-55 . -
Guys I personally Buy my flies from Ryan and from what I have seen from others his are top quality. He is very good to work with and all questions are answered promptly on line.

Next spring I will run 2 side by side and use each with a different hole , I'll let you know what happends.
-
As far as I can tell I was using the more action hole. The hole father away from the veins should give it a wider smooth tail kick. The other side would give it a tighter but more snappy kick.

I think I will just add another battery and charger, sounds like it would be so much easier because both Motors have charging systems. Guys good luck , let us know how it comes out. I have to figure out mine and still put an hour meter on the kicker.

This is the switch I was speaking of just not the diesel model. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/MP63487248.htm

Well this is what most of you are looking for. It describes it pretty well. http://www.bluewatermarinesvc.com/html/bat_isolator.html

I see you point Mike but at the same time the charging circuit should be able to make up the difference. Does the motor running charge the batteries that are not in service? Sorry if this is taking this another direction. My father when he was in the Navy was incharge of the batterys on the ship I will check with him and see what he thinks. I know you have it right Mike your boat was most likely designed that way.
-
Thats really cool
-
So lets say one of your batterys goes out Mike, Being that they are in Parallel would you still be able to restart while out on the water. Your still going to have 12 volts but are you going to have enough amperage to start the big motor. That being said the switches have the ability to run with both batterys in parallel or batt one or batt 2.

Tony whats the deal with the convector reel with the pink side plates, Special lucky reel?

Spring Coho Question..Around winthrop Harbor, IL
jimcr replied to eastcoasttransplant's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
I am going to guess that the orange and red ones in 6" are the best bet. How much different is the action from a spin doctor to the action flasher. -
They make switches that will do what you are looking for. they can be set for 1 or 2 batterys or both. My first question would be does your kicker have an alternator? if not I would go for the switch route. that way you will always have at least one battery that is charged and ready to start the big motor. The switches are less than 60.00 and you should be able to install it your self. The kicker I put on at the end of the season has one so for now I don't need to add a second battery.

Congrats Matt, that could be one of my dream Jobs, Good luck and let us know how things go.

This is why am a supporting member, because you are not flamed here, the guy and gals here are here to help because we want to be . Not because we want to show off how good we are and not help any one else out . I was new to fishing the big lake this year, I asked lots of questions , joined lots of discussions. Enjoyed reading all the posts. I love fishing and from what I can tell most of the guys here feel the same way. With the help from all the people here I have turned into an addict , and taught my son to fish. Now he can't wait to get on the water with me. I am always glad to share what I have been taught . And share the experences with others, I post pictures with my posts to enhance the story. Not to brag. The totals in my signature are more for me than anyone else. I surpassed my goal this year and every time I see that I smile because I was able to do that together with my family and friends. and help from the people here. you will like it here, I have been told that the only dumb question is the one not asked. Enjoy your stay here and ask away. Tight lines, Jim

Josh what is a action flasher and shaped B&B? Pay very close attention to Josh and Russ they have been doing this much longer than I. Networking is most likely your best tool if you are a newbie like I am, Only 1 season under my belt . and can wait for season 2.
