Nice Job on the tourney Kyle, Sounds like you had it figured out for day 2. What colors worked on the big paddles? -
My predawn bite was better before the warm water arrived. The dusk bite seems to be very short. that's just my opinion. It also seems that the kings that are here are deeper than normal.

The 2 fish that were at or above 20 lbs came almost at the same time of day, 7:30 pm yesterday and 710 on Wednesday. Yesterday it was light when I started fighting the brute and dark when we were able to pull lines and run in. Both fish came over 100 ft . Last night we were in 140 , and Wednesday we were in 110. As you can see by the picture this fish looked like he had seen better days. Darkest fish I have caught, meat was still good and red though. Going on the smoker this week. -
My wife bought me a Cutco knife and its so sharp I just nicked my finger and fillet the side of it right off . Didn't even know it until I saw the blood. Free sharpening for life, just have to send it in. A good deal if you ask me. Just dont' cut off your fingers

I gota go with Russ on this , I have used his equipment and its so smooth. You want the smoothest drag you can get at least for your rigger rods. I have Diawa 47LC Accudepths on my riggers , they work ok but not near as smooth as the Shimanos . Put a 18-25lb pissed off fish on the end of the line and see why. As for having a line counter on your rigger rods you can count the passes of the level wind.

With all the warm water here in Milwaukee getting out deep to find the fish can be a little tricky , My son nick and I went out tonight and were bumped around for the first 2 hours, We were out on Wednesday and the water was very warm top to bottom. Still managed to pick up one king that night just a shosh under 20#. Back to today the waters have changed again this time being colder than Wednesday. Found 48 degree water down 60 ft out in 140. On our way out to the deeper water we had a rip that took out 200 ft of line then ran full speed at the boat til it came off. Reset the rigger and 15 minutes later Nicks got a nice 10lb king. Then it was quite for a while until the same rod goes off again ripping just like the first one but this time its not running at the boat its running for the bottom. 35 minutes later and lots of grunting Nick nets the biggest fish this year. 22# king. ( the last 2 fish I brought in took over an hour together to bring in ) .

I have run them almost all summer, along side my other ones, I have lost most of them except for the last one which turned out to be the right one today, It had been pretty much a spoon bite up till today. Here is my review , Having the right color on the right day can make or break your day fishing. The flies are well built and hold up to much washing , The kings have been sparse around here , but tonight out of all the baits we ran the one that came through for us was the ( it'll do) . Sorry for not having the fly in the picture but the lines tangled and I had to cut lines in a hurry and lost the fly in the bottom of the boat somewhere. the same fly also took about a 10 lb king also earlier in the evening. There is definitly a space in my box for Yogurt flies. The weight on this beast was over 21 lbs. took about 35 minutes to bring in.

Hey Rj I know they are more touchy than Big jons , My cannons are lets say sloppy compaired to the Big Jons. It could be the age or just the clutches. Have you tried there web site for answers?

nice Job Mark .

No leaders , 20# mono also leads 35- 75 depending on depth and mood of the fish.

nice job on the tourney, I was on the welcoming boat on the way in after all the rain. Seems like every one waited until the last minute to run in . Saw your name on the board and you did do very well . Congrats -

the biggest thing I am concerned with is the drag washers, do they get greased? The reels I have are not the most expensive out there but I would like them to last until I get some better ones. Guess I should look for the little booklets that came with the reels. Does anyone have the Info on Diawa LC 27 and LC 47 ?
-
What do you guys do to maintain your reels . do you send them in or do you do it your self? What kind of products do you use ? We all have A lot of dough invested in reels and rods.

yeah , there is some talk about the DNR being present at the brew city and we need to voice our dissatisfaction with there numbers they say are there. I will be there at the Brew City , I may not be fishing in it . I think I need a little more experience before I fish more tournaments. I'm putting fish in the boat just not the numbers I would like. -

Went out Friday to do some searching for fish do to the last time we were out , we marked no bait and only a few fish. Friday instead of running north went to the south and found a ton of bait and fish in 90 to 100 fow . Went 2 for 3 on a short but flat calm evening. Returned the next morning with friends of my wife at 430 am . dropped first line in and it went off before I could grab the second pole to drop in. Second fish was one of the biggest a 11.25 lb Rainbow Not to be out done My wife picks up a 12.5 lb king. I ended up with the smallest one but enjoyed the morning. With the kings being evasive there has been lots of greasers showing up. One boat had brought in 7 large ones. Our bite today was over before 6am , but we did give a try to finish 5 for 5. Low numbers and a short bite window. Total for the weekend 11 for 13. Tight Lines Jim -
