Last year I sold my 2002 Ford F150 5.4 V8 because it was a gut less wonder. It didn't like to pull my boat at all. After much research and a good deal came along I am now using a 2001 F250 7.3 Powerstroke. It pulls great and gets around 13 pulling.
Since I have an out board I had the Name for my boat done twice along with the city and state. Once for each side of the boat in vinyl for $31.00. They are now a year old and holding up well.
I have not fished the Bay yet but am looking foreward to. I fish the Western Basin of Lake Erie all of the time. I would imagine the waves are about the same. Depts are about 25 - 30 FOW. TT
Thanks for this recipie Muskeybob, I made this last night and it was great. It took a little while to prepare but it was worth it. Thanks again Tom Torrice
I have two 55W lamps with defusers lenses. I am not sure if they are fog or driving lamps. I clamped them to my canopy frame so they are overhead. When I fold down the canopy they are still out of the way. I wired them into an extra accessory switch on the dash. I am happy with them. We also use the clip on led lights for the brim of your hat to set lines. Tom
My crew and I enjoyed last years Stinger Challange on Aug 11th we would like to participate in the West Michigan Fishing League. (as many as possible) I am in. Thanks Rich
When you get a Depth Raider it comes with a replacement coated cable. So you change your down rigger cable. It comes with terminal connections. I put one on my boat last summer and it works good. The only think I can say is to use a proper crimp tool to make the terminal connections or they will not hold. I don't have experience with the other products. I was just reading the discussions about these last summer. I also liked the small size of the display to fit on my dash.
Mike (GLF) referanced a diving device that he uses on his core rods. I don't remember the name of it. I have been looking for them and not found them yet either. This diver just clips onto your line. When you reel it in you remove it like you would a walleye board then play the fish in with out the added drag of a dipsy.
I purchased a Thompson Omega Last December. It shoots great and is more accurate then my 12 Gauge. I am using it full time for deer firearms now. This gun has the thumbhole stock. It is 50 cal. I put a 3X9X40 Nikon scope on it. I am using Triple Seven pellets 3 @ 50 gr each, and shooting a 250 gr sabot. I have not tryed different sabots to see how the others shoot. There is a log of nice guns out there now. It has come a long way since I got my first one. TT
Frank, I too recently finished the book Keeting on Kings. I found it very informative and helpful. I have passed it on to the rest of my crew. They are very excited about fishing for salmon next year, and have some idea about what we are doing!
