  1. I have the Depth Raider and am happy with it. The main reason I chose that was the foot print on the dash. The Depth Raider takes up less room on the dash and for me that was important.
  2. I am going to the Flint Steelheaders Expo at Birch Run on that day.
  3. WTG Andy!!
  4. I am not married so this may not count. But I have found that I boat a lot more fish with a device like this. That makes each fishing trip more productive and worth while. This makes the most of the fuel we buy and the time we put in on the water.
  5. Mike, you might want to give Tackle Haven a call. They may be able to point you in the right direction. (269) 925-0341
  6. I started in 1997 fishing out of St Joseph MI in my 16' Lowe. Now it is in my blood; darn it!
  7. This has been a very good thread. One thing you could do is use the Berts tracks and the removable rod holders. When you remove the rod holder you put in a plastic insert that converts the track into a step. http://www.teclausa.com/bert/products.html One of the best investments you have made it Keating on Kings. After reading that book it turned my fishing around. Tom
  8. Hello Robert, depending on how deep you are fishing will determine how much weight. When I am in Lake Erie it is no deeper than 30 feet so I use 6 lb balls. In lake Michingan Im fishing for salmon and can go very deep. I just purchased some 12 lb shark shaped cannon balls. You get a little less blow back with them. Frank is right about the switch it is a rocker switch. Up is up down is down and off is in the center. Just practice with it a little you will do fine. Have your crew practice also. If you have not mounted them yet this might help. I got mine a little too close to the side of the boat so when I launch or tie up I have to be careful because the switch hangs out over the edge of the boat and can hit the dock post. I have broke one so far. Hope this helps. TT
  9. Nice dog Mike. Goldens are great dogs. I am sure he will be at home on your boat.
  10. Merry Christmas & tight lines!
  11. I bought a Shapell a few years ago and it is a pain to put up in the wind. I would have rather had a flip up type.
  12. Nice job Ed and that sounds like a great camp. It is good to see some nice bucks.
  13. I was hunting my Uncles Farm in Dexter Township on Saturday morning November 22. At about 08:30 after a short series of grunts this 9 point stepped out. After a 70 yard shot with the Thompson Omega he was a birthday gift. I took it to my local taxidermy to have it capped. Once I got it home and hung it up in the New Garage. It weighed 163, without the head, antlers and cape. I estimate it was around 180 dressed. Biggest deer I ever took. So far this year I have a spike and a nine point. Still have a doe permit left. Good Hunting TT
  14. I have fished whitefish in Muskegon a few years ago. Like Frank said it was during rifle season. I used a long rod and swedish pimples, and hopkins jigging spoons. I tiped them with a little piece of baby shrimp. A wax worm would probably work too. I fished in front of the Coast Guard Station. Good Luck.
  15. Nailer here is the link where I got the Shark 12 lb balls. The rubber coated ones were $39 each. Sharks TT
  16. I run my probe all of the time. I had been using 12lb round cannon balls and this year switched to shark 12 balls. The blow back is less but it is still there. I just compensate for it. It does not cause me any problems though.
  17. This is truely a sad day. But by the time we shoot a couple of deer, and pull some fish through the ice it will be time to get the boat out again. It won't bee too long.
  18. I also have a Depth Raider. I put it on about a year and a half ago. This past year we caught more fish than ever. It really helps you to eliminate unproductive water and target where the fish are. You are also able to identify underwater currents. I use it every time I am out for Salmon. TT
  19. Andy, looks like a nice time on the water. TT
  20. This was the best year I have had since I started serious salmon fishing about 3 years ago. I think one of the main reasons our season was so good is I required my crew to read Keeting on Kings last winter. That and we learned the value of sharpening hooks. I am looking foreward to next season. I am done for this year. Time to get the bow out.
  21. I just saw today that OPEC will cut oil production.
  22. Looks nice Don. You'll like the kicker. Tom
  23. Great job mike. It was great to see the WMFL crew this weekend.
  24. Nothing like a Man with a Plan!
  25. Nice job Ed. Great to get the kids out fishing.
