  1. Lower St Joe is looking as low as I've ever seen it in my life. Going to check the depth at my buddies slip after I fish the river this weekend. Going to drop a lead on a line to check it. I'll stop by the launch and let you know what it looks like. Probably can't measure depth there but I'll post what I find.
  2. Welcome Jess!
  3. Welcome aboard Herb!
  4. Welcome to GLF Rob!
  5. We had our first fishing trip to Lake Mi this season to the St Joe pier. It was a great start to the 2013 season. We were fishing steelie skein and spawn bags on the bottom. Still ice on the pier but not too bad for fishing. I bet a lot has melted since we were there. Action was not hot but we had a steady pick all morning hitting a fish every 20-30 minutes. We got some real nice browns. Here are our 3 best ones. This was our best one, weighed 6-1/2 lbs. I got 2 browns, 2 coho and 1 big whitefish. Our total for 3 of us was 5 browns, 3 cohos, 1 steelhead and 3 whitefish. Out of about 20 guys on the pier, only a few other fish were caught. It really helps to have good spawn this time of the year. When the water warms up some, spoons and other baits start to work. All fish were caught in the river water; nothing caught lake side which is normal when the water is this cold. Since that pier can get real crowded in spring, I’m only sharing this report with supporting members. The next few weeks should be good if you can make it out. If you can’t, please respect this info and don’t pass it on to the masses. It is nice to not have to get out there at 5AM to get a good spot. Good luck, Ed!
  6. It is my understanding all planted kings in Lk Mi for the last 2 years plants are coded wire tagged with adipose fins clips. This springs plants will be the 3rd yr. All states are cooperating. One more year and all planted kings will be adipose clipped and wild spawned fish will not. This will allow the DNR to study exactly how many wild fish are entering Lk Mi from natural reproduction. I'm pretty sure the biologists in Wi are interested in angler input on what we are getting. I'm sure the federal biologists are collecting heads but not sure about Wi state bio's.
  7. Nice catch Joe
  8. If you're fishing stickbaits for browns in the spring, they run much better tied direct with a Rapala knot instead of using a swivel.
  9. I'll be fishing lake MI this weekend but I'll be on some concrete (or more likely ice over concrete) and not in a boat.
  10. Welcome Capt Chris. Look forward to your input here.
  11. Welcome Matt, lots of guys here who fish out of Holland.
  12. CAPTAIN Matt Mishler Nice job on passing your exam!

  14. A warm welcome Bradford.
  15. Welcome Nathan, that hard top is unique for a boat that size, bet it kept you nice and dry.
  16. Nice catch Jason!
  17. Thanks Ed but I don't slip my boat, I keep her on the trailer at my place at Tamarac Village at Hamlin Lake. If I did, it would be at your place for sure and I recommend it to anyone I know visiting Ludington. I stopped by a couple times last year to say hi but both times were rainy days and your office was closed. Wasn't any boating activity those days so no point working in the office watching it rain. I'll be sure to stop by on a better day this year.
  18. This was informative. If you or your loved ones have heart problems or diabetic issues, you should really watch this. 8-1/2 minutes of your time, well worth it. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/21134540/vp/50582822#50582822
  19. That was a cool video. I wish you were not so far away. I would love to fish your waters.

  22. Welcome aboard Eric!
