  5. Saw a picture on facebook, looks real nice. That is where I usually launch, probably won't be so empty in the future.
  6. Congratulations to both of you, what a special memory!
  7. Jason, A lot will depend on the wording/details of the contract you have with your previous company. If the issues you are dealing with now are not spelled out in your contract, the outcome might be a bit cloudy. If I were in your shoes, I'd contact and review it with a competent attorney. An initial consultation will not break the bank but if you have to pursure legal action to recover $6000, you won't have much left when done. Sometimes a letter from an attorney with a threat of legal action may get things moving without having to go to court. I hope this works out for you. If you are about to sign another contract with another company, might be a good idea to have a lawyer review that before you sign it. You can always negotiate terms of a contract. Make sure there is wording in it to protect you from a repeat of this situation with a new company. Maybe you will want to insert a line or two or delete a line or two to protect your long term interests.
  8. Nice job Bob, looked like NOAA was wrong.

  10. Hey Joel, the offshore forecast looks crappy for this weekend and that is most likely where the best fishing will be now. Was planning on sending you a PM with my phone if I was going to be out fishing in Ludington this weekend. If it is does not change by tomorrow, looks like I'm skipping this weekend. That is my plan every year after Labor Day, I wait till Friday, look at the forecast and go if it's decent and don't if it looks like this: FRIDAY NORTH WINDS 20 TO 25 KT DIMINISHING TO 10 TO 15 KT LATE. WAVES SUBSIDING TO 5 TO 8 FT OCCASIONALLY TO 12 FT. FRIDAY NIGHT NORTHEAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KT VEERING TO SOUTH. WAVES 4 TO 6 FT OCCASIONALLY TO 9 FT SUBSIDING TO 1 TO 3 FT LATE. SATURDAY SOUTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WAVES 3 TO 5 FT OCCASIONALLY TO 8 FT. SATURDAY NIGHT SOUTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 25 KT. WAVES 4 TO 6 FT OCCASIONALLY TO 9 FT. SUNDAY WEST WINDS 15 TO 25 KT BECOMING NORTHWEST TO 30 KT. CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. WAVES 4 TO 6 FT OCCASIONALLY TO 9 FT.
  11. I'll second that, he has rebuilt a number of reels for me over the years. He does great work.
  12. My interaction with MI CO's has always been good. Here's a good one from years back. It was opening day of duck season. About 8AM here comes the CO in a kayak paddling across the lake. He checks one blind, they pack up and go home. He goes to the next blind, they pack up and go home. Goes to the third blind, they pack up and go home. Then he comes to us, checks us out, we're all good licenses, plugs in the guns, all steel shot. We asked him what happened in the other blinds. They all got tickets for no licenses. no plugs in guns, lead shot etc. Then he tells us he has to write us a ticket. What for we ask? He says he was there in the dark watching us all come on the lake and we didn't have navigation lights on our14 foot boat. Never had navigation lights on my duck boats in all my life but he was right and we were wrong. It's the law. He was writing the ticket and here comes a lone goose. We're all standing up in the blind, camo down, the CO in the kayak wide open and this lone goose is coming in on a string. I can't believe it, he is locked up and coming in. We ask if we can shoot him and he says go right ahead. The bird drops right in and we let our 14 year old hunter shoot first and he gets him and the bird splashes right by us and the CO's kayak. We took our ticket and got our lights. The best thing about it is the other three sets of hunters never came back to the lake and we've had it all to ourselves for many years since then. A few years later, he came on the lake again and we were the only ones there. He came out and checked us. Of course this time we had our lights and everything else was good. He says where's everyone else at. We proceeded to thank him for booting everybody off the lake a few years back!
  13. NFL kickoff in a few minutes! What a great match up to start the season.
  14. Nice job on a rough day.
  15. Nice catch Jason!
  16. I'd rather have the 2 - 5lb walleye instead of some salmon fillets, now that is a great catch and going to be delicious.
  17. Nice job on the fish and sorry to hear of the 2 net problems. That's a real bummer on the probe rigger. You had some great fishing action! It is to bad there isn't a law requiring all netting operations, tribal or commercial, to post their net coordinates on the internet the same day as setting or moving them. Found this boat hook floating off Ludington a week ago. Gave it to my buddy who who thought it would be nice when coming to the docks fishing solo. He's the grandfather of one our members here. If it had a name or number on it, I would have returned it to the owner. Got one unnamed board this year too. I filled my net net handle with foam so it would float but never put my name on it. I'll be correcting that next time I grab it with a marker in my pocket.
  18. We fished more like Pentwater than Ludington. We ran down south of the nets in 49's and trolled south to off Pentwater in 80-100 ft of water. We hit 10 fish, boxed 5 and pulled at 9:20am with a seasick young man. 4 boats of my friends all fished that water and it looked like just a couple boats from Pentwater. All my buddies there went 5 for 10. That was strange we all had the same catch. They pulled just after us as it got rough. Most of the Pentwater fleet went south. What a great morning with miles of water and biting fish all to ourselves on Labor Day weekend. Heard the big point was a madhouse. The box would have been real nice if we stuck a couple hogs we lost. Had 3 first time salmon fisherman onboard with 2 young guys. They had fun. Pearl/blk dot ace hi on a 150 copper. #3 jpugs in green ladderback and green splatter on 300 coppers. MS carbon 14 and mongolian beef on a rigger at 75ft and 60 ft early. Blue bubble spin doctor on a 1-1/2 lb hit a couple. Glow frog spin doctor on a 110 wire mag diver at 110 ft went early too than again later with a chrome mt dew spin doctor and blue fairways fly. Looks like it might be blowing tomorrow. The wind has been ripping hard this evening.
  19. I have a couple friends with the new Raymarine unit and they like it too.
  20. Sportpilots have a good reputation for breaking down. When mine took a dump, it went from going straight to a severe s pattern. It worked good when it worked but I know a lot of people who had them and all eventually died. That is why Raymarine discontinued them.
  21. Been up since last Thursday a week ago, been averaging 7-14 bites a trip and the box is as good as your landing percentage, some days good and some days weak. 11 boxed was our best, 2 for 12 was our worst. Lots of big fish that pull hard! The point has fish but it is a madhouse on weekends, had some good days there on weekdays. Got to pick your spots and your turns, I never had boat stress. There was good action offshore for a late morning bite, that is where we got 11, but that slowed a bit lately. Wednesday was the only blow day so far, what a week of calm seas for vacation! Today, I fished with my buddy Milt, he was a fishing mentor to me from many years ago and a good friend. We fished 70-90ft of water away from the crowds. Blue bubble SD on a low wire out 110ft and on a 1-1/2lb. Fat Nancy 8in paddle and pickled sunshine was real good on a hi diver out 140, Mag Mongolian beef and Dancing anchovy moonshines early on riggers down 45 and 55. A pearl/blk dot ace hi on a 200 copper. We went 7 for 10, all kings. Looks like a blow day tomorrow.
  22. When are you coming up Ben?
  23. Nice catch Joe and great to meet you. You got some nice kings there!
  24. There was a hard north blow yesterday and it really cooled off the water, some fish were whacked in the harbor last night, I know of one real good box in there. I'm headed up Thursday after work and will be fishing Friday, I'll PM my cell to you and you can give me a call when you get there. There is always an early run but the main pack usually shows up from now till Labor Day. In recent years, they have been early and with the cold water and cold river and cold PM Lake temps, they will be early this year and may shoot right up the river. One nice thing is the fish planted by the LACA in the Sable River don't usually run till after Labor Day.
