  1. Aaron, yes. We have not got a lot of perch in recent yes but had good perch fishing 10+ years ago. I was targetting gills when I got them. Did not even have any minnows. Didn't find any gills Probably get some minnows for this weekend and see if I can find some more.
  2. Salmon fishing is great but you cannot beat those ice water panfish fillets!
  3. Looks like fun to me!
  4. Had 4-6 inches of clear blue ice. The ice season is off to an early start this year.
  5. Like!
  6. Drilled a lot of holes and picked away at some nice perch, biggest was 12-1/4 inches. Nice start to the ice season.
  7. Nice:thumb:
  8. Had a lot fun at deer camp this year and we got a few deer too. The buck pole would have been nicer if my buddies hadn't missed their opportunities at some decent bucks. On opening day, the first to shoot was Ricky and he got his best buck ever. It was a real nice 8pt. Later on opening morning, I got a 9pt. He wasn't as good on the ground as I thought from the tree and I had mixed thoughts if I should have passed him. One more year and he would have been magnificent. He had a nice looking rack so I'm still happy with him. I haven't got an opening day buck in a while. The rest of the first week was great for deer sightings but a few chances were missed by my friends and no other deer were killed. I saw good numbers of does every sit and quite a few small bucks. Here are a few that get to live another year. This could have been a great bow shot. Doe season opens for us on week two by choice and my "opening day" was good. I had what I thought was a lone mature doe come in and I dropped her. A few minutes later, her fawn caught up. I had another tag and didn't need another big deer so I dropped her in her tracks too. Only one other doe was killed because my buddies were focused on bucks till the end. We have a big herd so I'm sure they will fill some tags in late season. That loaded my freezer so I'll be doing more fishing in December but I'm sure I'll get out a few times and shoot with my camera instead of my muzzleloader unless a huge buck walks by. Most likely, the sun has set on my 2013 deer season.
  9. I'll see what I can find out about it.
  10. That was a nice hunt!
  11. It is now law for 3 pts a side in the NW 12 counties in MI. The new proposal is for 4 a side in southern MI. I think enforcement will be no different than it is now for antler restrictions we have with combo tags. It is really going to come down to ethical sportsman following the rules. The vast majority do but there will always be some poachers. The first year will be tougher when people are forced to apply some trigger restraint but I think people will be amazed at the results in years 2, 3 and forward. Letting small bucks grow just one extra years really makes a difference. Your post proves it and I've seen it first hand where I hunt. State land hunters will reap the benefits too that currently only private land hunters can manage to get now.
  12. It might be fun but that has got to be darn cold this time of year when the whitefish are in. I liked the video.
  13. Looks like a great season, you got some nice bucks there! I'm hoping the LPDMI proposal passes too. Surveys are in the mail now. Deer hunting will be so much more exciting with more 2-1/2 year old + bucks out there.
  14. Great catch to end the season!
  15. We fish the St Joe and Kzoo a lot in the winter.
  16. Great buck Mike!
  17. Nice catch!
  18. I love it, hope I can put the big shanty out this year. I could not put it out last year due to ice thickness. Here's some pics from my gallery going back some past years. I like this kind of "ice" fishing during the winter a lot too: Don't let this be you:no: It was just a drill on my lake Good luck this season!
  19. That's a real nice buck!
  20. Thanks for the report Frank!
