  1. Welcome to GLF Tom!
  2. Welcome aboard Harold!
  3. Welcome Randall, Ludington is my summer port, we have a place in Tamarac.
  4. We got some nice whitefish too. One of our best family fishing days ever. I had a 10 rod spread, now that was awesome on the pier. Here is our catch. Most came on steelhead skein on the bottom, got a few on crawlers and slip bobbers 8 ft down. Never got a fish on a spawn bag.
  5. Been pier fishing the last few weeks on the south end of Lake Michigan since more of the Michigan piers have been iced in. That has changed for the better in the last week and a ton of ice has melted. The kids are on spring break and we decided to head south one more time with the entire family. The fish cooperated and we all had a blast. My girls caught all the fish and were catching and netting them on their own. I just baited rods and took the fish off. Seeing my girls in action made it one of the best days I've ever had on the pier.
  6. Agreed, the conflict is spilling over from another site where it happens all the time. We won't let that happen here. Nothing major but a couple posts that were off topic are gone.
  7. I know a lot of Lk Michigan trollers up and down the coast and I don't know anyone who runs those rigs. They used to sell a similar rig called a schooley for dragging off downriggers many years ago. I don't know anyone running them so they must not have worked very well or guys would be still be dragging them.
  8. In smaller spots with limited access likes piers or tribs, it makes sense not to broadcast about them but I don't think you need to worry to much about the big lake. This place is not like the one you had issues with.
  9. All the southwest rivers have fresh chrome in them now and are fishing good. I'm sure you could hit some fish up north too but the best is yet to come there.
  10. A bit early to get the boats out. http:// http://t.monroenews.com/news/2015/mar/19/fishermen-rescued-lake-erie-thursday-afternoon/?templates=tablet&news=
  11. Welcome Doug, lot's of helpful anglers here as you can already see in this thread. What you won't see is all the drama and fighting that occur on some other forums.
  12. Lake Michigan was mostly ice covered and she really opened up the last couple days. 2-27 image
  13. Some open water is encouraging. Nice pics!
  14. The hype looks great. Over the years I've found the best use of my tackle dollars come from buying spoons or rigs that either I or my buddies hit fish real good on very recently, then I open my wallet. It will be interesting to see how those spoons work when the season starts.
  15. Great pics
  16. Looks like you had a fine season. Nothing better than spending it with your daughter.
  17. Nice hunt!
  18. It has been decent around here, been getting from 5 to 22 each trip on local lakes in Waterloo. Here are few pics: 22 gills My daughter gets a small pike, let him go after the pic. The biggest perch was 12 inches.
  19. Thanks for sharing the video and welcome to GLF!
  20. Nice looking boat!
  21. Nice video, thanks for sharing and welcome to GLF!
  22. The latest data and info will be presented here in Ludington at the Seagrant Seminar: http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/news/2014/12/08/2015-ludington-regional-fishery-workshop/ I went last year, it was very informative.
