Docks should be in Port Huron and Port Sanilac later this week.

Thankx SeaHawk, I have been sketching similar ideas. I like everything in its place especially on the boat. Laying things on the floor is outside of our SOP plus I enjoy engineering solutions. Cant wait for "opening day" Saw the MODIS Image for Lake Huron yesterday, still plenty of ice coverage. We are still 4-6weeks away on this side.

Thanx guys, I want to tow fith the poles in "storage holders" ready to fish but I may just keep them laying flat. I have a 45 minute ride to the launch too much risk of littering the road with $150.00 rods.

That would be my desire to tow the boat from port huron to port sanilac up right in the boat. So I can simply launch without re-arranging rods. Anyone else leaving the rods in the boat, without fear they may come put on the road? Mayee over thinking this but it satisfies some cabin fever too. Here is southern huron silver.[img /IMG]

Where are you putting your rods while trailering the boat? Im considering adding 16 cheap plastic rod holders (4 sets of four tubes) to manage but before I do I was looking for others input.

Yes lots of Steelhead and Lakers.

Went south out of Port Sanilac set lines as the sun was cresting the horizon. Hooked one 5# laker in 12 FOW on a gold and orange bomber. Second fish, laker about the same size lost him by catching the net with a set of hooks. Pulled lines and ran 8 miles north to cherry creek took a pretty good rip on an inline board but he never hooked up. Southern Lake Huron is about one good heavy rain away from bringing the silver on. I marked a ton of bait and a good number of fish. Warmest water I found was 40.5.

You'll need: 1. 20 inch drive shaft. 2. 5" extension spacer w/ exhaut spacer+gasket and fastners. 3. 20" shift rod. 4. You might as well put a new impeller kit if you pull the lower unit. I would try Vans Sport Center in Grand Rapids for good used parts. I think you'll find you can get a good late 70's early 80's 15 Evinrude long shaft for the price of the parts you'll need to convert someone else's motor.

My trip was 1/2 day @ $600.00. We got about an extra hour of fishing because we were doing pretty good. I tipped the Capt. $100.00 and the mate $80.00 plus a bottle of fine vodka. We did really enjoy ourselves celebrating 10 years of marriage. I reccomend staying at teh Islander Inn about one block walk from the harbor.
