  1. Another very informative article! Now where's the part about how to train them to eat gobies, zebra mussels, and asian carp?
  2. Excellent to see another fish hunter on board! There are alot of quality people here! What port(s) do you usually fish?
  3. Steve, I heard your boat was named Bumper.... My charter is "Sportboat"; again already there when purchased My other is "Manofish Destiny"; given to her by the Sixshooter My next boat will either be called "ImmediateDivorce" or "GonnaGetBobbited4This"
  4. Jimmy! Mrs.Jimmy! How ya doin? Welcome to the site! Not as crowded here as some places! I miss ya Man! Hope to see you in the Spring!
  5. I'm in! But come 9:30 it's "screw you guys, I'm goin to my lazyboy to watch South Park" :D
  6. Steve, www.fishertackle.com They are THE BOMB!!! Also I believe that they were the first to sell superglow flies (squinchee). If you order, tell John I sent you. I also carry quite a few onboard Sporty. Come on down and maybe I can hook you up with some promo's. Levi
  7. I get more hits on the turns with Lead core and divers. Dave, thats kewl. Got a 1/2 lb. mold? I got a bunch of lead! (And no 1/2 lb. weights)

  9. You can run cut plug, strips, clean, twinkie rig, with either no attractor, a flasher, or spinney in either med, small, or large. None are WRONG. As in anything presentation, it is the fishes preference that matters. The only right and wrong with meat is the rotation of the meat. It should spin at a minimum rate of 2 spins per second. This seems to always hold true. That's bout all there is to it. At least it works for me! Hope this helps!
  10. I think every day is different. Every hour as a matter of fact. Last year, a straight troll seemed best once I figured what direction the fish wanted it from. One of the nicest catches that came in during the St. Joe tourney was from a boat that just picked a straight troll NNE for 1/2 the time, then SSW for the rest of the day. They did this two days in a row. However,......in 2004 most of my hot bites were "on the turns". And strangley enough it usually occured on the inside cores. On more than one occassion, it was working so well that I would over react and snag the bottom by letting the lines drop too far. This year I would drop into neutral more rather than turning. Steve, is your speed GPS? Or Sub Troll? Inquiring minds want to know.
  11. OK. Where is Green Lake?
  12. Dave, Are you using drop weights or snap weights? I use them too, but I prefer to reel them up and take them off the line rather than using a release. Saves $$$$ and the environment.
  13. Yes indeedy! They always shock folks who have never seen one when brought onboard! I grind them up and send em on to the city water treatment plant! I don't know about the rest of you, but I have noticed a definate increase in the number of marked up fish as well as lampreys caught on my boat last season.
  14. There are several types and sizes of wire for trolling. I prefer 30 lb. stranded stainless and I believe this is the most widely used for Salmon on the Great Lakes. I use it only for my diver rods and rarely in less than 75' of water. I run a bead and large snap swivel on the end of this set-up. Snap directly to the dipsey and finish the set up according to the conditions.
  15. I prefer to use in-lines in waves up to 3-4 ft. They bounce but they still function. If it's too rough for them, I usually am heading back to the dock with some green customers:p ! I prefer them to the larger boards only because it is easier to manage a variety on my spreads. They do take a little fight out of the fish(and the fisherman), but are the best for a large spread. If I am trolling for Northern or Walleye on inland lakes, I prefer the larger boards because I will usually be running similar type rigs on most of my lines usually only on one side of my boat.
  16. Welcome! Cmon Spring!
  17. Hey Darrin! Welcome aboard!
  18. I end my Charters the last day of September because of the reasons Steve mentioned as well as the closure of the Lake Trout season. I just figure that a huge number of the fish have become unavailable for harvest for one reason or another after that date, and I want my customers to have their best chance at catching fish. So I try to book them before then. Beginning fall 2006, I will be offering trips for walleye as well as inland fishing after Sept. 30. If all goes right, ice fishing as well.
  19. I missed the biggest buck of my life! Musta knocked the scope outta kilter, it was 7 inches off at 100 yds. But I did harvest a couple of baldys. (Bow and rifle). Never saw another shooter buck within 400 yds the rest of the season after daylight.
  20. Yellow shirt, blue hat? Of course I'll keep guessing until I get it right.
  21. Wow! You would think that the Capt. would be at full attention during a new ships maiden voyage. It's a shame seeing tax dollars go to waste.
  22. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Let me guess...............the one lookin down the salmons mouth?
  23. Marky Mark! Hey Buddy! What up? I hope all is well. Have you been working around G of M? Did you ever check on that aftermarket gizmo for the inlines we discussed? If not, thats cool. Hope to see you all soon. Levi
  24. Hey Dave! Been a while there Buck! Hope all is well. Ask Mark to give me a shout sometime. I asked him to do some research on an aftermarket project and was wondering what he turned up. Man my mouth is waterin for some spring cohos and browns! Levi
  25. Craig, Sounds likw a plan. Are you the boat that was docked at the Capt. Hook dock last Spring. If so, very nice rig! I am docked just upstream of Barneys Brewha House:p . The boys at the Hook dock know me pretty well. Hope to see you around!
