  1. Great way to put it.
  2. Those look really cool. Have you caught fish on them yet?
  3. Hi everyone, I went to look at a 93 crestliner eagle 23' over the weekend and like it alot but I have some questions about that type of boat. Does anyone here have a similar boat, or is knowledgeable about them? Please pm me if you don't mind sharing some information. Thanks Mike
  4. Those are real sharp, and great idea with the kids.
  5. Those look really interesting and I might do the same as you. What size would you get for sag. bay walleyes?
  6. I've heard good things about the rods. Haven't used them in person but for that price I think you got a really good deal.
  7. Just found another one: http://www.ehow.com/how_12190614_replace-transom-starcraft-islander.html
  8. I'd do kind of what the others have suggested but replace the whole transom to make sure it's safe then add the bracket. Shouldn't be hard to either find a used bracket of make one if you know anyone that can weld aluminum. Not that you'd want to pay this but... http://www.armstrongnautical.com/repower.htm Check this out http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/showthread.php?116824-Transom-change-74-Starcraft-Alum I'd basically do it like this one but remember if you replace the transom then you've got to beef it up if you add an outboard. http://www.glanglerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?11126-old-starcraft-islander-gets-a-restoration
  9. I had the same question with my boat and ended up going with the 3 spot pedestal holder. I simply don't have the room to put rods anywhere when I'm not fishing (motoring in and out) and the trees aren't very good at holding stationary rods.
  10. I don't really have a dog in this fight because I don't own a Tekota but just thought I'd put this up so there's not just one person saying the Convector is better than the Tekota but looking at Alan Tani's site it looks like he favors the Convector over the Tekota. My guess is the Tekota isn't as goon with saltwater which is what he fishes so freshwater is probably a different beast. Just thought I'd pop these on. 11. Oh trust me Frank, I'd love to get one of those but I don't think the price of selling my Lund and an old Jeep Scrambler would quite pay for that so for now it's a used Islander/Sabre/whatever.
  12. Very nice work. Are you going to air dry those stringers or put a fan on them? I'm asking cause I remember my dad doing something like yours and putting a fan on some of the wood only to see it split like crazy from being dried so quickly.
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a new (to me) boat and am thinking I'd like to get an aluminum boat with a cuddy. I've currently got a Lund Alaskan but with my young kids and the type of fishing, I need a cuddy. So it looks like I've got my choice between Starcraft Islanders, Crestliner Sabre/Eagle, and Sylvan Offshore. I really like the idea of the crestliners being welded but my main question is this. I'd like to get one with an outboard since I do alot of fishing in the early season, and really late season. Starcraft made a few Islanders with OB's, but I haven't seen any Sylvans, and it looks like the Crestliner Eagle is an OB boat but the Sabre isn't. I don't know if I want a walkaround cuddy, or the fully cuddy, and the Sabre is full while the Eagle is walkaround. Does anyone know if they made a Sabre with an OB or am I limited to the Eagle? Also, any ideas what years they quite making the Sabre and Eagle? Thanks
  14. I always use this time to upgrade some of my reels with the carbon fiber drags. Would love to do them all but the wife seems to not like the price so I have to do 4 or 5 each winter.
  15. Wow, it's been a long while since I've seen a pontoon with planks for flooring....
  16. That's a great looking top, very nice job.
  17. I drilled a hole in mine (3/16" I think) and slide a light stick in. Had to seal the hole hence the 3/16 instead of 1/4 but it works very well. A 10 cent light stick lasts as long as I'm out in the dark.
  18. I got bored one day since the riggers weren't going and put a Big Old Rapala Husky Jerk down one at about 50'. Low and behold it took one of the largest Chinooks I had this year. I know it's not crazy but I thought the depth was kind of crazy.
  19. That's a nice old boat. How's it pull?
  20. I'm going out of Holland tonight and just looked up the regs. Did I read it right in that Lake Trout season ended the 31st? Thanks
  21. Hi, I hate to ask this but does anyone have the address for the new holland state boat launch? Thanks
  22. I would go with a 7 color and a 5 color lead setup. You can use any reel for these, along with any rod. I've taken alot of fish with these, and can add dive bombs to get down deeper. Copper seems to be a PIA with my boat always having newbies on it, and I can get close to copper depth with dive bombs.
  23. I've got an 18' boat and only run 2 riggers. It doesn't seem to bother my fish catching too much. You can always put stackers on those riggers and get 4 lures down but I commonly run my 2 riggers, 2 dipseys and then 4 leadcore off the boat. I'll sometime switch 2 of the leadcore for 2 more dipseys but still catch fish.
  24. I've got an 18' lund and use a depth raider and it works very well. I would stay away from the older fishhawk and cannon, but other than that they'll all work fine for you. Heck, find a used one that works well and go with it.
