Hand off every rod that fires to him. It will be a day he'll remember while he's over there.

I'll be visiting my Dad at graveside. It's been 12 years. I sure miss him. He was the best fishing buddy.

I can't believe the number of guys that have Islanders on this site. No wonder they're so hard to find. I wish I could find an original owner's manual for mine. I wrote the guy who owned it before me but so far he hasn't responded. He must not have it any more and it wasn't with the boat.

Not a bit. I'm getting a lot of input from it that I can use too. Keep it coming, maybe I can get Starcraft to kick in a few bucks for the free advertising.

I've been checking out everyone else's rigs trying to get some ideas. It's coming together a little bit at a time.

Ray, my sentiments exactly. God Bless your son and all the others who take pride in our country and what it stands for.

Excellent!!! Great report. I like that sunrise pic & am using it for my desktop background. It's nice to see the kings are starting to hit.

Nice report Bill. Great pics too. I love those Cannons. -
Thanks guys, I'm sure I'll be dipping into the vast storage of knowledge on this site. I've never owned an I/O before and there's a lot I have to learn. I'm trying to get the owner's manual from the previous owner but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I should know by the end of the week if he's gonna find it and send it. But, for now, LET"S GO FISHING!!!

Thank you very much for the offer. My buddy is a master carpenter & when he heard I needed a board, he stopped over to take measurements and is in the process of making it. I can't wait to see what he comes up with. Thanks Frank, I'll look into it. I was hoping for some used though. The budget is reeeeeeeeeeeeeely tight right now.

Can you spray the mooring cover with the waterproofing on the outside AND inside?

Me too. Thanks to you and others on the board for keeping their eyes open for me. She's a '96 Starcraft Islander221V.

She's not rigged yet but I couldn't wait to post the pics. I'm so happy........ I haven't even taken the old registrations numbers off her yet. This week I'll get the riggers on. (hopefully) My buddy is making up a rigger board for me.

I'm looking for either Bert's or Tite-Lok adjustable rod holders. I need 2 doubles and 2 singles. If you are selling or if you know someone who is I'd appreciate a PM with the info. Thanks

I started out to fish on Saturday with a quarter tank in the truck. Stopped to fill up and.....$67 for the truck, $33 for the boat. A hundred dollar bill to go fishing. When I got back, I had just a little over a quarter tank in the truck and the boat was empty.

Sounds like a good idea, but what are we gonna do the next day when the companies raise the prices by 25 cents to cover the loss? It's a possibility and I'm sure the companies have a plan in place to combat it. Have you ever tried towing a 22 footer with a 10 speed mountain bike?

Great picture and Photoshop sketch. Those memories will last the boys a lifetime. You're a lucky man. God Bless the children.

Heh heh, I went back out thinking it would change my luck. HAH!!! No good, but we still had a good time on the water just being there. -

That's great news. Please keep me in mind if you happen across any hardtops. If things don't work out with ebay I'll give the other one a call. My druthers are an outboard and hardtop, but I will settle for a bimini & I/O. I found another that looks promising. I"ll send you a PM. -
Oswego 05/07 Rant & Report

Yes I do, but it's just an opening bid. I'll probably lose it as the ending time gets closer. Thanks for the link on the other one. Do you know if it comes with a trailer? Thanks -
Oswego 05/07 Rant & Report

Yeah, it was a homemade top, but it served the purpose. I think it was only a 19-20 footer too. On a side note, take a look at this softee: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200107757469&rd=1,1 One can only hope. -
Well, I was ready. I had ordered my LOC registration online 2 weeks ago and had received the card in the mail last week. I called my cousin and made plans to fish out of Oswego. I told him to order his derby reg. online, but when I picked him up at 4:30AM for the hour and a half ride to Oswego he told me he didn't believe in putting his credit card online and we would have to stop at Larry's Salmon Shop before we hit the water. ARRRGGHHHH!!! I suffered in silence for the hour and a half because I knew what happened last year when we were told the shop would be open at 5:30AM and we had to wait over an hour before someone finally showed to open the shop at 6:45. Sure enough, we got to the shop at 5:55AM and found two guys from outside the Albany area waiting at the door for it to open. They had called the night before and were told the shop would be open at 5:30. They were highly PO'd. We waited with them till finally 6:40 someone finally came to open. My cuz got his registration and we left the shop without even checking the shop for other things to buy, the guys from Albany did the same, vowing they would never return. After stopping for doughnuts, hitting the head at Wright's, and prepping the boat, we finally got on the water around 7:30. Fishing was real slow throughout the day. We started along the shoreline for browns in 8-10 fow, nothing, went out deeper, 15-25 fow, nothing, went out deeper for kings anywheres from 50-200 fow, one sheephead. Lots of bait was marked from 90 to 200 fow at various depths. It went on for hundred of yards at a time, but no hooks anywhere near them. That was it for the whole day, almost. I heard on the radio that a boat's engine had failed and the boat was close to the rocks near the lighthouse. I told "Cuz" to pull the lines and we headed to the lighthouse to see if we could help. We found a Starcraft Islander anchored off the lighthouse and offered a tow back to Wright's. He threw me a line and it was then that it hit me. "I finally had the Islander I had always wanted." I got him back to the docks but he made me give it back. Oh well, so much for salvage rights. He's a heck of a nice guy and I'm glad I had an opportunity to help him out. Come to find out it was a blown spark plug that almost disintegrated. All in all it was a good day on the water though. The weather was nice, we didn't get completely skunked, and I met a new friend. This Sheephead had a belly like mine. He must like beer too. Thumbs up for the ride home.

I'm in the same boat, so to speak, as silver one. A hundred bucks to go fishing. When I go, it's a half tank of gas for the truck, and 12 gal. for the boat. I usually stay out there for 12-14 hrs.
