Here it is: Place your coho fillet on silver foil, sprinkle generously with your favorite cajun spice mix. Liberally pour creole marinade over the fish. Top the fillet with several pats of real butter, not the fake stuff. Seal fish in the foil and let set in fridge for about an hour or at least until you get the grill hot. Real wood or charcoal please, gas grills just don't cut it. When fire is hot place fish near the coal but not on top. Cook for at least 10 minutes until foil pouch looks like it will explode. Slice open the top and fold down a bit and allow the smoke to infuse the meat for a few minutes. Take off and enjoy, and I sure did, the entire fillet for myself. MMMm MMmmmm..

Heidi, the fish are out there. We caught 6 today before noon. 1 pink, 1 laker, 2 steelhead, 1 king, and 1 atlantic salmon. Full report in Lake Huron fishing reports section.

Daughter and I hit the water and were set up by 7:30. Fishing action although not on fire was fairly steady. We started in 50' and worked out to 100 and back in. All fish were caught on Flintstones spoons 35 - 60 down off the riggers except for the Atlantic Salmon, it came off a spoon on a 3 way rig being pulled by a Manns stretch 30. Sog 3.0 - 3.3 We had all fish before noon. Lake was quite flat and it sure was hot out there. Total 1 Pink, 1 Laker, 2 Steelhead, 1 King, and 1 Atlantic Salmon. Fishing is good all around the thumb. The daughters King The Atlantic Salmon A little closer than I would have liked. You can see the otter boat pretty close to the ship. I guess you can say we were fishing in the shipping lanes. The catch of the day.

Yes July was great last year at Sanilac. I have spent the last 3 weeks hitting Saginaw Bay for the walleyes but today it's back to Sanilac. Our group today is supposed to be 3 boats so hopefully we can track a few fish down. Will post results later today.

Was that your white jug I saw out there Sunday?? We pulled a 4 man limit half mile to a mile from it. Pulled cranks and spoons 2.9 - 3.3 working anywhere from 10 - 15fow.

Most of the times I run the spoons off a 3 way swivel. Diving crankbait on a short lead (1-2' long) and the spoon on a bit longer lead (3-4' long) so it follows behind the crank. I have had success with the hot pink mini disk but use the stinger size spoons, they seem to be better than the 2" walleye spoons off the disk. I also will run spoons with inline weights. But by far the 3 way rig catches more. I usually run 2.5 sog and up, just can't stand creeping pulling harnesses.

I believe I saw you guys heading back in @ Sebewaing. If so you picked a good time to go in as it got a lot rougher. We stayed in the slot and managed 6. We ran cranks and spoons, fish were up in the water column. Another day that didn't quite match the forecast.

Sounds like a fun time to be had. Unfortunately some of us do have to work on Friday. A buddy of mine will be up there Sunday and Monday, staying at the campground. I plan on coming up and fishing Sebewaing on Sunday too. Sounds like much better fishing this year than last.

Nice job on the fish. Sure is nice to see that there have been quite a few kings caught on this side this season. Personally I would like to catch a few more of the Atlantics, they sure are good eating.

A beautiful day to be out on the water. It was glass flat all day with an occasional touch of light breeze which was very welcome. The bad, the bugs. Bugs everywhere and no way to escape them. Several times throughout the day we would see fish sipping them off the water. Quite a few boats out, radio chatter was an occasional laker and steelhead. We worked a lot of different depths, from 40' out to 100'. Schools of fish were scattered about. We hit an active school in 85'. Went 1 for 3 on that batch of fish with a laker on a spoon about 10' from the bottom. Finished the day off with 2 steelhead 22' down on the rigger with a green and blue stinger size spoon. Speed 3.0 -3.2 Talked to a gal at the launch that was also loading back up and they said they didn't get any fish. Was that you Heidi?

Sounds like ya had a rough day there Grant. Good to hear some nice fish were caught. Hopefully the weather will be better next weekend. I am ready to get back out to Sanilac.

I not so sure on the anxiety attack but it will certainly test your blood pressure control :grin: but then so does the launch area.
