  1. I run a 32' wellcraft. It's an 87. You need to have the stringer's check. Mine were repaired already. It take rough seas with no problem. Really liked the living space below so it doubleshould as our cottage. Rest of item's I had issues with are normal maintenance plugs wires cap rotor transmission clutch plates.
  2. Good Job to all the teams that fished. Looking forward to the next event in Holland.
  3. those are fun projects, looks good Frank and will keep giving you years of service. I re-powered a 79' Gravely back in 2001 - had the same things to deal with. but when it's done you have a product that will out last the big box store sheet-metal toy tractors. I still use mine, year around as I have the mower deck, snowblower, tiller, and power broom.
  4. I did buckets for one season - it worked ok, but not as well as a set of good bags. Storage was a pain, they took up too much space on the boat when they were not in the water. I bought a set from Dick Boyajian 4 years ago and they are still in great shape. Used them 2 seasons on the 24' Fourwinns, and 2 years on the 32' Wellcraft. I bought a 36" set and I can get the Wellcraft down to 1.6 if needed. Most the time I only run one on the same side as what every motor I'm running while trolling. This puts me at 2.2 at a dead idle 700 RPM and 2.5 @ 1000 rpm. The bags are vinyl coated canvas - very well built. I would stay away from the Nylon bags as most that I have seen used only last about one season before they are torn to shreds. check out this thread on bags - it has a couple sources for bags, plus contact information for Dick Boyajian.
  5. Nice Boat Eric - I hope you find a good home for it. I had the same boat for 18+ years and only have great things to say about it.
  6. I had a 87' Fourwinns 245 Vista, like Kevin's Sundowner they shared the same hull design. it was a great boat and the current owner uses it as a charter boat on Lake Superior. We fished 5' seas on lake MI with out issue. The sundowner would be more of the type I think you are looking for. if you look at Fourwinns you want to stay 1987 or older, 1988 the company was sold to OMC and the powertrain was switched from Mercruiser to OMC Cobra, making spare parts harder to find.
  7. last year I put in the first weekend of April, the next day the wind shifted and blew Ice back into the marina area. Lucky that no damage to boat, this year will be toward the end of April.
  8. I run two. 2011 Ford F350 I bought when I was towing a boat. and I have a 2007 Madza 6 that I drive back in forth to work. but I find now that gas prices are down I still drive the truck, just because it's more fun to drive.
