  1. Way to chase them down and show'em who's the boss.
  2. Nice job Frank - I really thinking about giving up a weekend of sliver fish to come over to the bay.
  3. Thanks Don had a great time.
  4. My arm hurts just reading this post. 300' is enough for this "fun" boat. If fishing becomes that much work I'll just enjoy my boat ride.
  5. What a good bunch of stand up guy's. I had one of my new Okuma GLT Copper rod's snap at the tip this weekend. Stopped in at lunch no problems just replaced it. Thanks Guys. I've only been at this sport for 4 years now. I started with a bunch of Craigslist stuff and hand me downs from others. over the past two years I have slowly been upgrading and have been sticking with mostly Okuma because it fits the budget. I'm up to the four GLT copper rods, 6 CV30D reels, & 2 CV55L all from the Outdoorsman, they will continue to keep my biz - great customer service.
  6. Keep the rod tip down is what we learned, no need to horse up on a copper line. I like to pretend I'm 8 years old and just keep steady, smooth cranking. it seems young kids boat alot more fish, so why not reel like they do.
  7. the fish were a little frisky this weekend. Good job on getting that big fish in the boat.
  8. Sounds like it starting to get a little better for you. Keep at em'
  9. Nice Job on Saturday. looking forward to the next event.
  10. Welcome to GLF Jeff, I too just started a couple years ago. best thing to do is watch the site for guys looking for a rider. this will get you on another boat to see how they get it done. alot of great info here on the site, and it has helped me alot.
  11. Made it out to Muskegon Saturday morning with Alex and Ryan. ended up 9 for 10 - lost one assumed steelie shortly after removing the planner board. it had already jumped 3 times and jumped two more times, I think he flipped me off and was gone. the fish that did make the boat 13#+ King(300 copper), a 12#+ Steel (250 copper), 4#+ brown (rigger), two more smaller steel the rest were all Kings in the 8# to 2# range. The big Steel put up a good fight - Alex had his hands full with that one. Not only did it put on a great show - it also wanted to tangle into every line at the back of the boat, and would not come anywhere near the swim platform. Had to net him along side after pulling the diver out of the way. all spoons - early am glow program, by 7am we switch over to anything silver and shinny - screw balls took fish, Silver Streak UV did some damage. not sure the name but a glow white back spoon yellow with black dots took a couple of fish as well on the 150 copper. started 55 fow north half way between pier head and Duck Lake. worked our way out to 80-90. stayed in that water til about 10am. then it just shut down, started working more WNW out to 120 until we were about 5 miles north of Whitehall. Made the turn and worked back into 80. pulled lines just before noon still half way between Whitehall and Duck lake. Riggers went 3 times. only with spoons - we put the white paddle on after 10am trying to smack the bottom nothing. had 300, 250, & 150 coppers out started morning with only one 300 in the water, pulled one of the divers and put the other other 300 coppers in. took a fish right away. nothing on flasher & flies again - Divers were dead.. thanks to Alex and Ryan for going out. was a good time. Thanks Sniffer for holding the Event - and Thanks to Sliver Streak for donating the spoons that were handed out.:thumb::thumb:
  12. Thanks Don, Patty, and Jim for putting this event together. had another great time.
  13. Great Job, that is one ugly Laker - I think I dated a girl that looked like that once...
  14. Nice job. Welcome to GLF
  15. Dave, I can loan you some tools and give you a few pointers as well.
  16. I had my Pancakes do the same thing a couple weeks ago. I stopped using them and went back to my balls
  17. West marine
  18. Glad you made it out. Nice kings,
  19. Went out to the pier head at 9pm. It's starting to lay down. 1-3 rollers
  20. I heading to Holland now, by rights the outting should not be held per the NOAA report. The holland pier looks to be 2-3 foot chop right now. the south bouy is 2 foot. If it is still under 3 foot in the am and if my rider shows up I'm going out. so who ever shows up at the ramp in the morning we can make the call then and can always call it short if the lake starts to build but per NOAA it should be laying down during the morning. 6one6 - 80two - 8six5four is my cell
  21. I was watching the holland web cam all the way up to dusk and the sea was rockin' so far it looks to be a go for Sunday. stay posted
