on all 12 volt asserories you want the shortest possable ground the shorter the ground the better. and with coax cables you dont want to cut them or wrap them up loop them away from any power leads or else you risk interferance. this is just common knowalage in auto/semi wiring. not saying you or anyone else is wrong i am speaking form many years exeriance as a ase master machanic i also have wired many radios and cbs and learned from major screw ups.

got on the lake at 520ish run north and set lines in 95 fow put it on a south-southwest troll and bam a king on a rigger 71 foot down and can you belive it the spoon was the 2009 glf spoon then trolled and trolled and trolled some more (did i mention we trolled) worked out to 145 nothing worked back to 125 and full core goes off 14/15lb king on a silver j-plug that was it for the fish for the day got back to the house and pulled all the big fish stuff off and loaded up the perch jerkin gear. water temp was 60.1 surface temp

i use a reverse albright and havent had any thing break off. plus i also use 50lb prowrpro for backer.

we run both copper and lead. come later in the year we seem to have more luck with the copper. thats just my opioin

a friend of mine has a contender center console and its a charter boat on lake mi. so i dont think it matters al that much. but like bob said with a 19 footer you do need to pick and choose your days on the big pond.

got bored today and said to heck with it i am gonna go fishin. so i went almost 6 hours later 2 fish was like wtf and then it hit me the moon was glowin big time so i pulled the lines and headed home not to bad of fish

all i can say is FUN glad i got an invite to take part in this adventure this morning. it was fun kicked back driving the boat watching mike run around like a chicken with his head cut-off for almost an hour and ahalf. and his boys are right on it with the smooth come backs almost died when hunter asked dan a serious question in a kids eyes about wieght.

and i also forgot pretty much all gm mechanical fuel pumps are the same but the marine applactions have a water/fuel seporater on them on the out-flow side soooooo if you put one one when replacing the fuel pump that didnt have the water/fuel seporater you could very very very well be having the issue from water in the fuel. my FIRST action would be try some sea foam cause come to think of it i had the same issues with my uncles boat last year and sea foam cleared it out.

your problem is sounding more like a electrical issue is in the starter slynoid. have had problems in the past with chevys. the exhuast is right on top of the starter and the heat causes the sylnoid to over heat and then nadda. the reason i am looking at this is after you said you open the hatch it help out that would not most likely help a vapor lock issue in the fuel system. the starving for fuel problem i would make sure you dont have any forgien matter (like a mexican) a plugged idle circut jet or a plugged main jet on the carb.
