I haven't rabbit hunted in years. All of my spots either grew up or has houses planted on them. Thanks for the story. It brings back alot of fond memories !
I am unsure on exactly how the wolves fit into the equation. I hunt Canada where there are a lot of wolves, and the deer herd is definately smaller. But much healthier. Of course there are far fewer hunters also. And wolf season is open. I think at sometime it will balance out. Maybe not in our lifetime tho.
I have done it several times over the last 20 or so years. You don't need a guide...just common sense. It used to be I never started fishing until I found a hole with the ice piled high around it or blood around it. Now I tend to go out and look for my own spots. I am sure Adam will have more to say about this.
They ( meat markets) can lose their license for putting any meat or fish on the scale that has not been inspected. Michigan has some of the toughest meat handling laws in the nation. You would think the DNR would know this.......
Anybody that sells meat here in Michigan has certified scales. But they cannot use them for weighing anything that has not been inspected by the FDA. I begged several to weigh it and no one would.
LOL....I never weighed it on a certified scale. I still can't find anywhere around here that has one. On walleye centrals weight calculator it comes up 15.18 lbs.....
Adam, you have one heck of a memory !
