  1. You live close to the lake? You came in loud and clear on the lake. I wish I could hear fishing reports from my house, but I'm too far away.
  2. Fished out of Holland last night on a North troll 130 fow bucking some big waves (3-5') with North wind. Slow night as far as fishing goes:(. Caught one 8 pound king on an Area 51 with a 10-11 inch lamprey stuck to it's side. Sliced and diced the little sob:mad:. Had a couple releases, but they spit it out before we could get them in. Too rough to keep balance. Only heard one other boat on the radio (JimBobber) just as we started our turn to head back in.
  3. I ran tite-locks on my last boat, and had issues with the aluminum disc wearing causing the holders to become sloppy. That and having to turn the thumbwheel every time you wanted to make an adjustment is a PITA. Rigged my new boat with all Bert's tracking, and ratcheting rod holders and they perform great. I'm a Plastics Engineer by trade, but I wouldn't trust my gear to plastic rod holders. I like the ease of handling on the Berts too.
  4. Didn't hear about the accident. Anybody have details? Did they end up finding the guy? I wondered what was going on when I returned to the slip, and heard the Coasties broadcasting over another fisherman's radio to be on the lookout for something, but couldn't hear it all because someone fired up one of those loud "go-fast" boats at the DNR launch. Anybody know the guys name? That's too bad. Prayers go out to the family.
  5. Go Shimano! :thumb:They're pricey, but well worth it. I converted all my gear (rods and reels Talora and Takota) over last year, and love it. Silky smooth drags, and built like a brick sh**house.
  6. Big boats, small boats, it doesn't matter. A few seconds of being careless, and stupid can ruin more than a fishing trip. I'ts been my experience that it's harder to see with a bigger boat then small boats mainly because the fog tends to mist up the windshield, and wipers can only do so much.
  7. OK. Little problem with inserting picture. Could use some help if someone is better at it then I am. Its under the Boats section in the gallery.
  8. Didn't like the "spring" that was on the end of the Moor Subtroll so I found this fitting by Scotty, and fab'ed up an aluminum fixture for it when mounting to a Cannon downrigger. Didn't turn out too bad. Looking for SS set screws to eliminate the SS SHCS sticking out of the side though.
  9. I'd love to get up North to fish in the St. Ignace area. That's one of my favorite spots to visit along with Traverse City. I bet going beneath the Big Mac is a sight to see.
  10. I wonder if I'll have similar issues with my Moor Subtroll. I'd like to put a Honda 4-stroke long-shaft on the back of her. Does Happy Days deal with Hondas?
  11. I have a Garlick (sp?) hydraulic lift on the back, but currently don't have a kicker. I'm trying to find out what size to get that will push a boat that size. Are you having problems with interference?
  12. Where did you get the spoon holder you have mounted on the transom of your boat? That's a good idea, and I'd like to add something like that to my boat. :thumb:Is that built in, or attached?
  13. I really like it. I recently added two Cannon Digi Troll IV HS downriggers that I picked up for a steal at Gander Mountain. Gander decided not to carry this model because it wasn't a hot seller due to the price ($1,400.00 each). They sold them to be brand new in the box below cost! I want to put the boat in my slip, but the weather hasn't been cooperating.
  14. I just thought it would be more convenient to have a shore power plug installed on the boat rather then running the cord over the gunnel. Maybe not. I'm still a little concerned about galvanic corrosion primarily with my prop, and shaft so I'd like to find out if anybody has had any issues with this in freshwater, especially when slipped in a marina? I have an in-board engine with single screw, and there's no sacrificial anodes on the boat like an IO, or outboard. Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I don't have to tell you guys how expensive it it to maintain a boat so I want to cover all the bases. I've never slipped a boat before this year.
  15. I'm looking at installing shore power on my 28 foot Baha Cruiser, but I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone with greater electrical knowledge then I can help me on this. Is installing 30 Amp shore power as easy as installing the receptical, running 10 gage wire to a 110 Volt receptical? If not please let me know. What about glavanic corrosion isolators. Is this something I should install? Also, I just purchased a Guest battery charger/maintainer. I have dual batteries connected to a battery selector switch. How do you connect the charger to the batteries with this selector switch connected? Is there anything I have to be concerned about?
  16. My Baha is a 2003 277 GLE with a 6.2 liter inboard. I want to get a kicker for mine next year. How does your kicker do when trolling large lakes, or windy conditions?

  17. I have the same problem, and I haven't found the solution yet. Last year trying to make my way throught the harbor was a challenge. Had to have my fishing buddy sit on the bow, and give me directions.

  18. What year is your Baha? I have a 277 GLE too. It's a '03 and I love it. You've got yours dressed up pretty nice. Is yours an in-board, or IO?
  19. I added two new Cannon Digi-Troll IV HS downriggers, an extra net, spoons, and a bunch of misc. gear.
  20. I had the same question so I went to the source. I called the manufacturer (Baha Cruiser) to see what they recommend, and they said they use Comet w/bleach. I bought a large can, and it's game on this Friday. Time to get the grit off. The top of the hard top is the biggest PITA for me because I can't reach the center very well, and I'm over 6' tall. I just bought some Woody Wax for the non-skid. This allows me to hose the blood off the deck w/o busting my @#% on a slippery surface.
  21. Dang! That's messed up. How can you even operate a boat after going through all that?
  22. I have two brand new SG47LCA linecounters spooled with 20# Andy. What will you give me for them?
  23. But like the saying goes is easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.
  24. :cool:Just curious to see what toys everyone bought at the open house weekend at Gold Coast, Outdoorsman, etc. Bought a Moor Subtrol 900 to replace my Fishhawk. Curious on how this unit works compared to the others.
  25. I hear ya. I drove out to the state park today in Holland and there's no shore ice, only on the pier. I can't wait to get out there. I want to work on the boat, but it's shrinkwrapped. Have some new toys to try out this year.
