If you are going to charge a fee to enter the launch, I like when I can use a credit or debit card. I rarely carry cash now and it is very convenient to just swipe and go.

My wife got me a new trolling combo for Valentine's day this year (yeah, she's great). I just spooled it up and noticed the little plastic inner ring was missing from the tip, so it is just a metal ring. Do you guys think it will be Ok for trolling if I'm using straight 20 Lb. monofilament? If not, do you have any suggestions on a fix? And like always, we lost the receipt, so no return. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. Thanks for any advice!

Jim, Welcome aboard! That is a nice boat. I run a Tracker Deep V17 myself. I love the Trackers, you will not be upset with your new boat.

I buy Black and Decker Firestorm batteries for my Dewalt stuff. the 18V batteries are $25 at the outlet stores. Just have to cut a few plastic tabs off to fit the Dewalt drills and they last just as long as Dewalt XRP packs. Charge in the same Dewalt chargers too.

Gotta love those winter projects to prepare for Spring. Looks great and I'm sure it will work. Nice work.

Ken's right. We talked with a walleye pro on the bay and he told us that minnows don't work well for the walleye there. Harnesses and meat seems to be the way to go. Sounds like a fun trip, have a good time!

I've heard of people catching perch as early as late April. I tend to do my best in late July through September. The guys at Pyle's Porthole have a pretty good idea of when and where to go.

I started looking for sheds last weekend. Was encouraged when we found a dead buck in the woods with fresh bloody nubs on his head, but we didn't find any sheds. Good luck on the search. Nice picture of the deer. We are seeing alot of them around eating the shrubs and ornimental trees in our neighborhood.

On the flipside, sometimes less is more. I only have two rods I troll with. It is easier to manage on the water. But, as time goes on, I'm going to acquire more rods and rod holders. Now that the wife is letting me keep the boat and she enjoys salmon fishing too, the gear will accumulate and probably be seperated into "his and her's" Since I tie my own flies, however, you can never have too many of those. And with winter still here, I've got a mean arsenal ready to go.

I've been the beagle since they started taking me hunting when I was 6. We have never used dogs for rabbit hunting. The legs have a few scratches from crashing through the briars, but it's fun to put a few rabbits in front of dad and grandpa since they can't move like they used to.

My grandpa and uncle were in town this weekend to rabbit hunt. I was hoping the snow that's pounding the east would at least give us a fresh inch or so, but I wasn't so lucky. Lots of old tracks around, but with the sunny day, they were not running out like we like. Had a great walk and still managed five rabbits between the three of us. I saw zero rabbits, dad got three and my uncle got two. Weather was gorgeous and we all had a great time outdoors.
