  1. Very Nice! You are truly blessed to live where you can view wildlife in it's true form like that!
  2. I was thinking of putting an onboard battery charger on my boat. Where I want to put it is completely enclosed. Do these charges need an open air installation so they don't overheat?
  3. Be quiet in the boat. By all means, you can talk with your friends, just don't slam the hatches shut! I have an aluminum boat, and I'm sure that sound travels through the water a long way. If it startles me above the water, I'm sure it startles the fish under water.
  4. Thanks everyone. Thanks also to Chris for the link. Of course my intent is never for harm, but ignorance is no excuse either. Thanks again
  5. I was thinking the other day. I had my 9" fillet knife in my backpack that I always take fishing and was wondering if this would be considered a concealed weapon. If so, what would be the proper way to transport it legally?
  6. Wow, that 34" steelhead must have been a hog!! Great job out there!
  7. Grant, if you go to the "Website Tutorials" section, the first link is how to post pictures in your post. I think this link might work. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219
  8. Here you go, Grant. Great shots!
  9. Nice Job Mike and Hunter! That is a great looking fish! Was thinking of hitting South Haven this evening. Was it rough out this morning? Forecast looks good, but buoy detail conflicts with the forecast.
  10. Welcome to the site, Grant! I grew up in Port Austin and fish there alot these days. Great group of people here. Enjoy!
  11. Got a very late start today and started at 1pm. Headed south towards Deerlick creek and setup in 26 FOW. Caught a perch right off the bat. Caught another about five minutes later. Those were the only two perch we caught today. After that, we searched the area and came up with 8 gobies. So we never got into them, but many did this morning. The guys at the fish cleaning station said they got them early morning in 20-25 FOW. Still had a great time with my two favorite fishing partners, my wife and dad. And those gobies are OK too, they make for good tomatoes in the late summer:thumb:
  12. I think I would need to vent too after all that! Sorry to hear, but good luck with the whole situation!
  13. WOW! Great fish! Was that caught on Lake Ontario?
  14. I hear you guys talking about sea fleas on your lines. What exactly are sea fleas?? Is it that green slime crud that accumulates on your lines or something else?
  15. Have any of you guys checked out the Lake Superior State fish cam lately? Seems like the majority of the fish have lampreys attached to them. Are there that many lampreys in that area?
  16. Big Jim, when you fish out of Pointe Aux Barques, do you launch from the Port Austin Harbor or Grindstone City? If you go from Grindstone and go around Eagle Bay, there is more deep water you can navigate than if you go from Port Austin. I've always done better on the Grindstone route. When we go from P.A., I had the same problem of hitting the bottom because of the shallowness of the reef.
  17. Welcome aboard Big Jim! I fished Willow Creek myself as a kid and still do on occasion now. The mouth is great for some big smallies this time of year. Never fished the area from a boat. Good Luck!
  18. Nice fish! Looks like a beautiful day on the Lake.
  19. Nice Job! That is a nice laker too!
  20. At first, I thought they were photoshopped. Those are some monsters! Thanks for sharing, those are what we dream of!
  21. Nice Bass! I love them Lake Huron Smallies!
  22. We caught a few smallies. We caught about 15 near the breakwall before I hooked into this walleye. After the big rain on Memorial day, the lake muddied up and the smallmouth bite really turned off.
  23. Wasn't really fishing for walleye, but it was surely a welcomed change. My dad and I were casting for smallmouth in the harbor of Port Austin near the stone breakwall at dusk when this nice four pounder bit my jigging spoon. I thought it wasn't fighting like a bass and I thought I was going to do a backflip when I landed him. He's going to taste good for dinner tomorrow!
  24. Thanks Bromley, I'll let him know!
  25. Had a great time today taking my niece (Shaelin) and Brother-in-law (Donald)out of South Haven today. Fog and more fog that magically lifted as the evening went on. We ended the night 4 for 5 with three nice ones and one shaker. All fish came between 70 and 80 FOW straight west of the piers, about 50' down on the riggers. Orange crush was the spoon of the day taking all fish. I forgot how much fun it is to take a kid fishing! Shaelin Donald and Shaelin The whole gang!
