Boat setup is a personal thing, look at the suggestion givin, look at the way YOU fish and go from there. The Track system is by far the best way to go because of this. The only thing our our boat that doesn't change thu out the year is our rigger setup. We run 3, 2 outdowns and a center rigger. Starting in the spring when everything is up high in the water collum we'll run 9 to 16 rods, Lots and LOTS of boards the more the maryer. In the Detour area we are trying to cover everything from the surface to 30 feet, and everything will take hits most days. From Mid June to Mid Aug. we are back to running a 5 to 9 rod spread From Mid. Aug to Season end we are back to flooding the water collum again for staging Kings, Steelhead and Lakers. So Our suggestion to you would be: 1. Put as much of the track system on your boat you can afford. 2. Put as many "quality" rod holders in the track system as you think you might need and then add 4 to 6 more, one thing you can't have enought of are the holders.
  2. I've heard very good things about the scottys, we are going to give them a run next season. A #16 rubber band works Very VERY well for salmon, not so good for lakers, and the best part about the bands is they are very cheap. a 4pk of small S-hooks and a pk of the bands and your set for the season for under $4.
  3. Bob The Michigan DNRE is Mandated to plant 300,000 plus fish thu the year 2013 so the tribe has the right to fish, Nuns Creek gets most of those.
  4. There is one that was just posted for sale on the GLA board 1987
  5. Sounds good, we should be heading that way to fish by Monday.. Thanks
  6. Anybody catching any fish from Alpena North to Roger City ?? Lakers or salmon will do
  7. Drop me a line when your going to be coming up John, things change from spring to summer to fall.
  8. Drop me a email or PM and I'll point you in the right direction
  9. The Vectors will be available again around January, So the folks at TraxTech have told me. Pulpfishin, where you getting the information on the "Build" per order thing ? I've talked to them a couple time and there was no mention of that..
  10. Make 2 of the 47's wire and 2 braid if you don;'t have that yet
  11. If you have a boat hit Detour, thicker than fleas right now. just a matter of time before they show up in the soo full force. I would think you can catch them from the wall behind the powerhouse, ya just need to keep a real close eye on the kids running back and forth on it trying to snag fish they see
  12. Somethings doesn't sound right, at the very least the Boat shop owner should take you out in it . Would you buy a used car without driving it ?? Pull the registion number off the boat, you should be able to find the owner with it
  13. If your buying pre made riggs they should be set up for you already. For the most part 2 fly twinkie rig length from the front swivel to the bottom of the hook you are looking at around 36"to 40". 3 fly add a foot. If your just running the head with no teasers, it's pretty much what the fish want, start at about 3 feet and go longer from there. we have had moderate secess running a head 5 or 6 feet be hind a dipsey, no flasher..
  14. Thanks Dave..
  15. Run them the same as you would a spoon Bob, the glows, Ladder backs and the wonderbread jointed have all woked for us done there, we also have a pink/Grey?whit glow thats produced very well in the past.. we don't put them on the riggers until mid Aug. dosen't mean they won't work now
  16. Did anybody say Meat Riggs
  17. It doesn't look like it. there are a couple strains by the looks of thing, most of the fish have some good color inside, some are a bit pale but not bad, leaning on the yellow side.. and the eater size are not greasy at all. I'm not a big Lake Trout fan unless it's smoked no matter what they are..But, Most of the clients like them.. Good thing for us
  18. No Salmon fishing for us right now it's all Lakers. Last nights charter we ended up going 11 for 16 on the snakey buggers, even in the high winds and building seas About 4 miles south of the lighthouse, stay in 100 feet of water or less, Glow Peanuts behind silver Flodgers, 90 feet down on the riggers,Braid dipseys 250 - 260 back White fishcatchers with peanuts or spin-n-Glows, and one of those retards on 2 colors of lead draging a Warrior Cold Steelhead candy Flutter spoon..
  19. Launched at 3:30 back at the dock by 6:30 with 6 almost to big lakers and a small King. Peanuts and meat riggs south of the Lighthouse, Seems like laker Central now fellas
  20. Lots of those bloody things up here, almost all the salmon you catch will at least have a scare on them. Seems like they have taken a liking to salmon blood. This spring out of Detour there must have been a hatch of them, Most of the salmon had lampreys about 6" long on them, unlike the 1 foot + lamperys in the past.... On a Kinda high note, most of the lakers are clean, no lamperys and no scars, go figure...
  21. Metal Dodgers and Lakers go hand and hand, up here with Spin-n-Glows or Peanuts a short lead form the dodger works best for us, like 16" short.. We've been doing well with a 8" shiney sliver Flodger and a glow peanut. If your using the Big spin-n-glows you need to get the hook away for the body of it, couple 8mm beads or a 8mm 10mm glowand another 8mm.. Works for us..
  22. Have any of you guy recieved a email from a Dr. Tim Breckly ? about a 3 days of fishing ? .. Somethings not right.. I can get no information from him at all. Finally told him that he needed to call to set the trip up.. Haven't heard hide nor hair from him since, and this guy was emailing daily for about a week.. Just a heads up ...
  23. Orchard Beach state Campground. You'd have to tow the boat to the city launch, but they do have a fish cleaning station..
  24. The bouncing action is what makes the inline so effective
