  1. Our numbers are growing!
  2. let me know if you ever make down south (racine area). i would love to help you out if i could. There are a few other guys on here that are more in your area. Hopefully they will chime in.
  3. mike my charter was canceled so we plan on going swimming today, so i would gladly take some warm water...for today, but then you have to take it back again! j.j. how was the perch fishing? i haven't been perch fishing in about a mouth but really want to get back out again.
  4. Sorry for a lack of updated fishing reports. Haven't been around a computer alot lately. I also have been bad at keeping up with pictures. fishing has been up and down the last two weeks. Lots of cold water everywhere! Shoreline out past 200 fow. Fishing during the day time was excellent one day, then slow the next, then good again. Tuesday afternoon fished 100-120 fow on straight east of town. Ended with 8 fish and missed a couple. Half lake trout and half salmon. 300 copper, leadcores and deep riggers. Weds afternoon fished 80-150 fow with 140-150 being the best. Lots of fish below the boat but they were not really active. Ended with 9 in the boat and missed a handful more. Found a pocket of rainbows which made for a lot of fun! High leadcores and SWR down 50 were the best. Thursday was forced inside due to rough water. Fished 30-35 fow north of Wind Point. Struggled in the rough water but managed to boat 7 fish. Two nice kings and the rest "eaters." Really hard to mantain speed/control, but glad i had my Tiara! High leadcores and SWR riggers were the best. Best baits the last three trips have been by far Dreamweaver Super Slims. Various patterns were working but Cheap Sunglasses with a piece of green glow tape was the most consistent (all year actually). The Magic Man stood out in the shallow water too. Various Spin Doctors have been catching fish occasionally too, but not as good as the SS's. Have tried other size spoons with little success. On weds the rainbows were loving a mag purple Pro King, official name unknown. sorry for the lengthy report. I will try to be more up to date in the future.
  5. out of racine, the fish are on the shore line out past 200 fow. never know where to fish!
  6. 41 pound brown trout registered in Salmon-A-Rama http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/98619539.html
  7. i run up to eight leadcore and copper rods at a time and they are all on 7 foot MH ugly sticks. no complaints at all especially since they were less then $30!
  8. the new tiara is doing us very well. we have had our "disagreements" since she came home but the two of us are getting along for now! nothing i didn't expect from a 10 year old boat with nearly no use
  9. thanks guys! they were very happy and actually more excited about all the "eater" salmon then the bigger ones! that doesn't happen very often
  10. Absolutely fabulous fishing north of Wind Point 30-40 fow this morning. Nothing much over ten pounds for me but the action was practically non stop. Ended with 6 man limit (plus one for me!) and had about 45-50 fish hooked up. Spin Doctors (dreamcatcher, green dot, H3 bb white hammer, chrome frog) and Dreamweaver Super Slims (cheap singlasses, blue glow frog, fireball) were the hottest. Honestly it was one of those days where they probably would have bit a bare hook! http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/7/5/0/2010-07-07_00001.jpg' alt='2010-07-07_00001.jpg'>
  11. Anyone feeling lucky? Try your luck with Salmon Unlimited of Wisconsin's Salmon-A-Rama! Lots of money out there for the taking. July 10-18, I believe it is Lake Michigan wide. You just have to weigh your fish in Racine. For $10,000 it may be worth the drive. Money payout for top 10 in each species. http://www.salmon-a-rama.com/ hope to see some of you over here!
  12. hey jim,

thanks! the new boat is great. having a few minor mechanical issues along the way, but nothing i didnt expect being ten years old and only 300 hours. Your new ride is pretty sweet too! I really like the Trackers.

I am ususally out at least a couple times a week. not supper busy but its enough having a full time job. I will definitely keep you in mind if i ever need help or just going for fun. I would love to help you out with any tips i can and learn some from you too!

even if we it doesn't work out that we get to fish together, feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have. Facebook is probably the best way via internet otherwise you could give me a call.

  13. I use Spro #10(i think) swivels at any copper connection and simply put the copper through the swivel and twist it on itself 10-20 times and tie your other line on the opposite side. Makes for supper easy and fast re-rigging. The swivels is small enough to go through the rod guides and wind on the reel. http://www.spro.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SPSB-ALL as far as the wide-mouth guides, if the reels do not have them Okuma will send you some at a reasonable price. They are fairly easy to change out.
  14. let us know how it works out!
  15. Mauraders are a spoon manufactured here in Racine by Shure Hit/Alderton Tackle. It is owned by Captain Ken Mandy of the Kari Joy. They have been around a long time just not a really wide spread. Hard to find in stores, most are obtained directly through Ken. They have an off set hook which makes them pretty unique. here is the best picture i can get right now. It is a regular sized Green Tubilee. I will get a better picture tomorrow. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/7/5/0/maurader.jpg' alt='maurader.jpg'>
  16. i run them with a treble hook and a single bead when by itself. also have run them in front of a fly with good success. same leader length as standard fly.
  17. did the first mating thing on another charter boat today. fishing started out slow but ended fantastic. ended up fishing a line in 75 fow north of wind point. 1 fish in the first two hours, finished up with 14. three nice big kings, the rest were all cohos with a couple rainbows mixed in. For the first time in my 17 years working charter boats i saw a whitefish caught while trolling for salmon! would have liked to taken that one home for dinner myself. most of the fish came on Shure Hit Mauraders in Blue and Green Tubilee on leadcore 3-10 colors. Some fish on various flashers and flys also. sorry no pics today. forgot my camera.
  18. i was floored when i saw the price of the new catalinas. i tried to get some of the old ones but they told me they didn't have anymore available to sell. The ones that are/were left were being saved for warranty replacements. They told me the same thing when i wanted to get more Titus T10L's.
  19. mike, that is the same problem i sent the first two in for. thanks for the input!
  20. a-fishy-anado - thanks! i feel the new boat name fits much better and has a double meaning, as you know. Proposition was kinda boat specific for that vessel and for the trip bringing her home.Long story.......just have to slowly transition "Proposition" to "first In."
  21. I bought 4 of the old style catalina line counters last season. after less then two weeks i sent two in for repair and now i have one with a malfunctioning counter. anyone else experience problems with this particular reel? mike - i think in a previous post i read you said you have a bunch of them. any problems?
  22. thanks guys!

  24. my wife after her first fishing contest. It was the day after the boat arrived and 15 hours of work to get her ready to fish. Long two days but alot of fun. she has been awesome with this whole new boat thing!
  25. jim, boat looks great! i wish i would have had some input sooner for you before your purchase. I have always had vector rod holders on my boat (original and nature view versions) and loved them because they are bullet proof. i have just added some of the "vector style" rod holders from traxstech to the new boat. they are everything vector had plus great customer service. Its alittle late but traxstech has a great intro price on them. i think they are like $60. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pid=4306518&id=245813662700 http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pid=4306519&id=245813662700&fbid=397412312700
