Fishing has been super hot in Racine all month of June. The Last couple of weeks has seen awesome coho action transition into big kings. Limits of cohos had been easy to find but today they seemed to disappear and kings dominated the bite. The water is cold everywhere and fish seem to be from 50-70 feet, give or take. 6am-noon trip and ended 16-25ish. Blood Run Wires and 32lb copper pulling a wide variety of baits were the hot ticket today. Fish seemed to come in spurts. UV Natural Born Killer Super Slim on a 200ft 32lb copper was probably the most consistent for me.

in Roberts case, he is talking on a much larger scale than most. I do not believe there would be much a trolling plate is going to do to slow down that 50 footer with the monster diesels pushing it. Not sure about trolling bags either. If I am not mistaken, trolling valves actually work off the transmission. Its not like idling down the actual engine, you are slowing down the speed that the transmission is turning the shaft. Any adjustments made with the trolling valves do not effect the engine at all.

try loosening the spool as well. It will be the small knob inside of the star drag. The Clarions are actually supposed to have a "second drag" by using the spool control knob.

I am not going to say that Blood Run is the ONLY copper line out there worth using but.... I have been using it exclusively for the last few years and have zero complaints. I have also put many people into it and feel I have had some what of an influence on its arrival to the west side of Lake Michigan. I have yet to hear of any complaints of the their product or their customer service.

Good fishing! -
no roller rods needed. Shimano and Okuma make rods designed specifically for copper with larger stainless guides. I personally use Ugly Sticks and have never had any issues with them over the last seven or eight years.

Thanks Captain Russ

(4) Okuma SD 30L reels for sale (only three pictured, one is still on the boat). Reels are slightly used but in good condition. They have been keep in reserve on the boat for any extreme circumstances. Time to part ways with them. These reels are by no means top of the line reels but they are good reels, a slight step down from an Okuma Convector. $20 a piece + shipping. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/7/5/0/okuma_sd_reels.jpg' alt='okuma_sd_reels.jpg'>

Rough water and a little tougher fishing than everyone has been used to! Odd charter from 1030am-330pm, ended with 16 and about 10 more hits. Fished all the way out to 240 where they had been for me with little to show for it. Did find a couple trout and a nice king down deep. Finally found a small concentration of cohos back in 180 fow. Green Rattlesnake Spin Doctor/green crinkle fly was great down deep. A few other spin doctor/fly combinations took some fish/hits too but not spectacular. Typical orange flasher/dodger and fly combos took all the coho in the top water column. very scattered reports out of Racine from Saturday. Sounds like fish in front of the harbor, out on the hills and in deep water still too. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/7/5/0/533086_10150844207987701_245813662700_9674487_1059872090_n.jpg' alt='533086_10150844207987701_245813662700_9674487_1059872090_n.jpg'>

4 man limits both days with a few extra fish too. Kings near shore on spoons but nearly non stop action out deep in 200-240 fow. Kings out deep fishing the lower water column with riggers and Blood Run divers mostly on spin doctors and flys. Cohos in the top 40 fow with typical Wisconsin coho setups of orange flashers/dodgers and peanut flys. New UV stinger, new glow DW buffalo bill and UV Mixed veggie Super Slim also took some cohos.

What do you spend on gas per trip?
killerbe20 replied to danthebuilder's topic in General Discussion
About 30 gallons a trip on average -
Yellow bird big birds will pull a 400 and allows you to adjust the arm to have to board where ever you want it in your spread

awesome! Nice king, were the rest salmon too or were they browns? -
I have just started using it and absolutely no complaints at all. I have always used mono backing as opposed to braid. Blood Run's backing material addresses some of the issues with using mono. Mono is usually only good for a season, this is fluorocarbon coated which makes it more UV resistant than your standard mono essentially allowing your baking material to last more than just one season. This is a coploymer line which is stronger and a little stiffer than your standard mono giving you slightly more back bone to your backing while still having most of the properties of mono. You will still have a higher backing capacity with braid but I have never had an issue with that and I have ALWAYS run mono as a backer. A lot of people are willing to spend the extra on braid because it will last a few seasons, this is a much more affordable option for multi-season backing.

it was really great seeing the cohos but definitely not enough to feel good about them quite yet. Tons of bait around and good temps, its only a matter of time..... -
stiff north breeze made for rough water and tough fishing. Ended the day 6 for 12 fishing between the harbor mouth and wind point in 10-15 fow with the best being between the zoo and the light house. Did manage a couple cohos and a bonus 12 pound king for a good surprise. Everything on smaller size spoons with absolutely no pattern. Hope the weather straightens out so we can get offshore!

nice russ, hope the weather calms down soon! -
i regularly run a 107mm walker 2-3 setting outside and the inside with a 124mm walker 1.5 setting. I can run them the same amount of line out and often run the outside farther out than the inside to hit the same target depth. With the different size divers and settings, there should be enough spread to avoid tangles.

i did not see Traxstech mentioned, also a top notch option. Great products also backed by lifetime warranty and superb customer service. -
I prefer a uni knot. It lets the treble sit straight instead of cocked to one side which usually happens when you snell
