  1. I also have the ball baby cradles~ no issues Regarding the probe, I have the Fish Hawk X4 and take it off after each trip and put it back on when I'm ready to fish~ I don't like a $200+ probe dangling as I'm running in/out..
  2. Nice way to finish:thumb: Thanks for the report! How many days til Spring?
  3. I'd like to take it "combat" fishing in Grand Haven!
  4. Those bronzebacks are fun to catch! Nicely done ~ ANY fishing is better than no fishing!
  5. Thanks for the report! Nicely done!
  6. I have lures, downriggers, rods/reels from the early 80's when I started salmon fishing with my dad! All gear is in almost like new condition as I took a few years off in high school/college (ok, chased girs etc, etc...+ my dad sold his boat) I keep thinking I should sell some on craigslist, swap meet etc...but then I figure I might as well keep it since it's not worth much $, plus ya never know when fish will start hitting on the painted Northport Nailers!
  7. Good job guys! It was slow all over (at least in GH too 3/5)..I just counted myself fortunate to fish with my son and dad on a beautiful late Summer night:)
  8. Reeds Lake? Yeah, bad launch...especially when I forgot to undo the transom straps on the bass boat I was trying to float! Finally after pushing, swearing, and nearly submerging my S10 Blazer a guy yells "did ya remember to take off the back tie downs?"...oops.
  9. I often think about trailering my boat instead of in/out service at a marina ~ until I'm reminded of the antics of a few jerks! I have patience for: People having trouble getting their boat on the trailer safely before pulling out. I don't have patience for: Line jumpers Those who choose to load/unload their gear while taking up the launch People who decide to get comfortable, crack a cold one, put on lotion BEFORE pulling away from the launch Those who try to figure out why their motor won't start while floating at the dock instead of pulling out and working on it.......
  10. Dave...we stayed out until 9 (I think)...seemed much later as the sun sets by 8:30 now! When we ran in, there were still quite a few boats out.
  11. Set up in 80 fow on a steamy night around 6:00 p.m. Took our first hit around 7:30, then back-to-back hits as we started heading in in 90 fow around 8:30..pretty slow out there based on the reports from people who were talking, but here's what worked: Finished 3-5 - speed 2.2 - 2.6 at the ball - temp 42.5 down 55' -- 70 above! Pearl J-Plug on Walker 124 diver 220 back 13.5# King BLL Blue Dolphin Dipsey Diver 125 back 10# King, also lost a bigger King 20' off the back of boat:mad: Silver Horde plug silver/black ladder back 300 copper Moonshine green glow plug downrigger --missed 52' down Worked 80'fow to 115'fow...didn't mark a lot until the sun started setting Felt like July with the dead air, humid temps and biting flies:eek:
  12. Welcome! I've been a reader of GLA mag and board for years. Enjoyed your work ~ I had one of the best nights fishing (7/3) with Nailer and crew...I think that was the same day you donated a boat, gear etc.. to the Lake:eek: Look forward to the BLOG:thumb:
  13. Seems like I mark the bait, get ready for a hit that never comes! Also equally as frustrating is watching a fish come up:eek:, look at the lure (per tracking my downriggers on my graph), with no hit!
  14. Sounds like a great time! Nice job on the fish!
  15. holy #@$! That's a big un' Way to go Jake and crew!
  16. Nice rig!! It will smell like fish before u know it!!
  17. Thanks for the tips all! Went out tonight for a couple hours, only managed 1 small king. Set up in 80 worked out to 130 south to the dunes. The fish we did mark were in the top 30fow. Can't seem to find them -or get them going:mad:
  18. Anyone going out of pentwater? Never fished here before, ran out to 100 fow hardly marked a thing. Water temp on surface was 50. Down 40 ft it dropped to 46! Any help is appreciated!!
