I never thought that the summer would have turned out that good. I got the job through dick from adventure 1, I fished with him from one time and his first mate andy at the time was gonna fish for the season so i looked for a mate job else where. It was nice to have dick back me up to tell my new boss at the time that i could fish. 6 months later i look back and say why didnt i do this sooner, it makes you alot better fisherman from seeing day to day what the fish are doing. I learned more than just fishing, found out what happens when you lose your hydro steering, dealing with customer after little sleep. Seeing the little variables that make fish bite, working with the company that we use daily ..awesome summer cant wait to do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask any charter in manistee what there running, its mono. The reason, its cheap it holds, theres not to many guys on line prostaffs, if we we one one we would run it, the fact of it we have 20 lead core and copper rods, there a ton of flor right there, add your riggers and divers leaders it get costly fast. Big kings are hard on line to so you have to cut and change for nicks and such.

No better feeling in the world to see kids catch their first fish, i see it often on the charter and its a feeling you have to experience to know what it is.

This is my last charter weekend on the Killin' Time, I might help out on a few boats on the weekend if they need help, other than that its time to come back a be a high school for a while, shoot some deer and wish we we fishing in mid January.

With being back to that stupid thing we call school getting in the way of my fishing, I finally got back up to manistee to run some charters. Saturday morning we went offshore to the 31 line and kinda picked at them all day long, over ran the 3year old kings by 3 miles and went 9 for 13. Lots of lead cores 5,7,8,10 300 coppers took hits, free sliders on riggers. steelie stomper, coyote, blue dolphin, shanster, green dolphin wonderbread. The pm we wanted to fish the 3year olds in the 27 line, 70ft rigger with a uv monsoon went 3 times, low diver with a yellow killer flasher went a few times, coyote on a 8core went 4 times free slider with shanster were hot, i like tryin to catch up to free slider on 70ft rigger with 100ft leads, talking about reeeliing like a mother@#$@. We punched in early with having 2 people charter we were done by 7:30 with 10 fish. Sunday morning was kinda a blur everything was going as long as it was in the water, freesliders on all 3 riggers with shanster mains with nbk black killer. divers with white flashers and hymotist flie 100 back. we pulled at 930 with 17 for 25ish. great weekend

you have this problem, fill you reel full of braided line then a 40ft leader of 40lb, 30lb gets snapped off to easy, some charters had the same problem, after going to 40 the problem goes away from losing divers, trust me we lost a ton of slide divers this year...

Im just keep saying were losing 51 pound kings then lol

maybe i should just retie everyday then, i mean after 4-5fish on the same rig it would be gone.

fished meat riggs alot this year in manistee, alot of the charters we seeing there meat heads getting chomped off, were running 50lb big game, is it time to go to 60 or even 70lb. Have you seen this or has it happened to you?

Mudd fishing, the kings like the cold water but im a big fan of the 50-54 degree water.

Homemade is the only way to go, unlike most ports manistee charters run big boards all the time. 95% are all homemade big boards from redwood, dont use a lighter wood it wont dig in the water.

Stinger protrolls in 8inch,nbk,blue killer,froggy with crush tape and uv purple plaid. flies for me are green hymotist rapture on the green flasher, same fly but blueon the blue killer and purple on see em.

Don't change, on my pm charter last night we were 0-6 on divers this morning I was 6-7 on divers, didn't change a thing.

Bridge boats are great for flat calm days.......other than that id pass, trust me I work on a 31 silvy bridge.

There is a few dates left on the killin' time for this september.

Clear walker deeper divers are the best for kings and orange for steelhead

All the time, High slides a lot, when we fish for them we fish for them we fish four slide divers

Fished on a 25 car classic, same boat just 3000lbs more, it was awesome.
