I had that same spinny for a while this year, unfortunately a king wanted if for himself. I may have to find a few more for next year. -

The weather took some of the fun out of it this weekend for sure. Other than the rain it wasn't to bad when we were going North, going South was a different story. -
Headed out with a few friends yesterday morning with the intention of running out to the bank. I knew it was supposed to be a bit bumpy but when we got out to the light house the waves ended up being a bit rougher that I had hoped. So I made the decision to turn around and head out to the Green Bay side and try our luck out there. The other guys on the boat seemed happy to make the turn, they looked pretty nervous when the waves started spraying over the bow. We put down in about 80 FOW on a North troll, shortly after it started raining and did not stop all morning. We took our first hit in 85 FOW on a dipsy 160 back with a white paddle and a blue glow fly, a small king. We would take two more fish on three hits on riggers on the morning. A rigger trolled tight to the bottom with a chartreuse paddle and a Oceana fly took an 8# king and a miss. Our last fish, another 8# king, came on a rigger with a chrome flasher and a hypnotist fly parked at 75. We have not put in any time fishing on the Green bay side out of Sturgeon Bay so I was happy to put a few fish in the boat.

Kewaunee Salmon Fishing on Lake Michigan
KJ pluggin replied to BlueCollarOutdoors's topic in Fishing Videos
That's fine, just thought I would throw it out there. We used to make snowboarding videos every winter but we no longer have time for it. Besides that, I'm not sure I could get my wife to go out and shoot video for hours on end in the cold anymore.- 47 replies

Good job finding a few in tough conditions Josh. -
Light line rods for the rigger like Matt said would be a good choice too. I ran a rigger rod with 14# on it just about every trip with good success. .

Yea I think I would go with more wires and braids. Maybe get a couple torpedo setups. There are lots of applications where you could use braid.

Welcome to GLF Matt, good to have another WI guy here!

how close together can you run riggers ?
KJ pluggin replied to Boomer's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
If you have them turned out you should have plenty of clearance. If you run the riggers strait back off the corners you may have issues depending on how you boat is set up and how much beam your boat has. -

We headed out to give it a shot again Monday morning, after the results we had the day before I was not real optimistic. As we reached the end of the ship canal we were greeted with the distinct swell of skunk, not good. We set lines at 5:30 and headed North for our first pass up the bank, and for the second day in a row we failed to take a hit on the first pass. At 7:30 we finally took our first hit and got the skunk out with a nice 14# king. After we boated that fish we spun around and gave it a few more passes and boated one more king in that area. Both of those fish hit a dipsy back 160 with a white 11 paddle and a green glow fly. At 9:00 we took our third and final fish on a 200 copper with a glow J plug. By 10:00 the wind ad started to pick up so we decided to call it a day going 3 for 3. All three fish came on North trolls going 2.4 SOG in 120 to 140 FOW. Its looking like next weekend is going to be my last chance to get out and do some fishing so hopefully the wind will give us a break and the fish will start turning on over the week.

And now we are going to get hit with another big W, NW blow. At least the water can't get mixed up anymore than it is already is. -
Taking a new boat out for the first trip can be an exciting time, have fun RJ! Hopefully the weather cooperated for you. The first time we took our new boat out we had 5'ers, it was a short trip.
