  1. Up until this point our fishfinder has been our most important tool to catch fish. We have added a fair amount of electronics over the winter though, so that may change things.
  2. Nice job on the lakers Mark! How did you like the new riggers?
  3. Its always sad to hear this kind of stuff, be careful out there guys. My condolences to the friends and family.
  4. I thought it was a good seminar as well, with a lot of good information. Now the soft water season just needs to get here so we can go fishing!
  5. Welcome to GLF Orval! Clipping to torpedo on after the core is all out would probably be the best way to go, and you would not have to worry about damaging your core with the clip. Just make sure you have enough backing to work with.
  6. Welcome to GLF John!
  7. Congrats Nick, great news!
  8. I think the Diawa 27's are a bit small for dipsies, and the Okuma 45's would work but are a bit on the big side IMO. I would suggest going with either the Diawa 47's or the Okuma 30's. For dipsies I would also suggest going with a higher quality reel if you can afford it, since these reels seem to take the most amount of abuse.
  9. Welcome to the site Ken, we are happy to have ya! Have fun setting up the new boat!
  10. Nice job on the salvage operation Adam, sure sounds like a nightmare to me.
  11. I have heard a lot of good things about the led lights from Coastal Night Lights, but I don't have any personal experience with them.
  12. You could always throw them on your lead or copper to get them a bit deeper. What size did you get?
  13. I will be there Jim, should be a good day! I am also looking forward to meeting a few of you guys.
  14. Welcome to GLF Brandon, and nice box of walleye!
  15. Nice looking sails Capt., thanks for the report!
  16. Welcome to GLF Brandon!
  17. I usually use a spotlight in the morning for the initial charge but I always have a small UV light in my pocket to recharge the glow when they come back up. It seems like the UV works better on some things than other things. For my moonshine spoons it seems like my spotlight or my floods on the back of the boat work better. Maybe I just need a better UV light though.
  18. Welcome to GLF gto! Enjoy!
  19. The 32# copper should dive deeper than the core to begin with so even with the FF combo on the copper you should be able to pass the core over it. Adding a couple ounces of weight would certainly help though. Try drawing it out on paper sometime with a cross section of the water showing depth and lead length of your lures. Doing this has helped me in the past to visualize where my lures are running in the water column.
  20. Congrats Dan! Sounds like a good honeymoon plan, I would give John (Daybreak) a call. One place I have hiked around up in that area was Sugarloaf Mountain just outside of Marquette.
  21. Copper is really nice to have when the kings are really deep but for the most part you can add weight to your leadcore setups to get them down deeper. Wire dipsies are a must have for me. I started running wire a couple years ago and they have been my best presentation. I try to run them down just below my riggers with a FF combo. Both copper and wire setups are pretty expensive, it doesn't take long to reach a couple hundred bucks with these setups. For the connection to the spool I would attach a segment of mono first to keep the wire from spinning on the spool and then tie an albright knot for the mono to wire connection. For the connection to the swivel give this knot a try.
  22. Name: Kyle Jansen Age: 28 Residence Location: Wausau, Wi Area(s) Most Often Fished: Sturgeon Bay Years of Experience: not quite sure Boat Size and Info: 26' Century 7000 w/ custom hardtop Boat Name: Slammin Salmon I started going out fishing with my Dad as soon as I was old enough to hold a fishing pole. Since we live in central WI the majority of fishing for us was on lakes and rivers but we usually made it out to the big pond a couple times a year. For the last six years or so though I have been spending more and more time on the big pond and less time on the inland lakes, I just can't get enough of it.
  23. Mike, here is a pic of the wire diver chart I have on the boat.
  24. Yep same here.
