  1. I like using a double uni for braid and the willis for mono.
  2. Bradley, feel free to ask any questions you may have, chances are your not the only one who has that question. As for some good books to read, take a look at "Great Lakes Salmon and Trout Fishing" and "Keating on Kings." Keatings books have some good information on tactics and presentations.
  3. The Daiwa 47's are not going to hold to much for lead or copper, but you could probably get away with some shorter segments. If you haven't checked it out already, the reel fill calculator on this site is a good tool for determining how much backing to put on your reels.
  4. Also if you have any crimps on you cable make sure you inspect that area.
  5. I have thought about doing that as well and it's nice to see how the finished product looks, thanks for sharing.
  6. Welcome the GLF Rudey. I would go with 200 - 300' of cable and 10# balls if you don't mind cranking a little more weight.
  7. The project is coming along pretty well Jim. Did your stringers take on any moisture?
  8. The dive curves for braid and wire are pretty close but in the deeper end of the dive curve the braid flattens out a little more, if I remember correctly. If I remember I will grab my charts next time I get back out by the boat and I will send you a couple pics.
  9. I have a couple 15# setups on our boat that I use for running spoons, but I not fully convinced that it is worth it. Personally I don't think kings are very line shy, but I don't doubt that the lighter line gives the spoons better action. The better spoon action may trigger more hits but you also going to loose some fish and equipment at the back of the boat when they get into your divers or rigger lines. It is defiantly a lot of fun to fight a big king on light line though, good luck.
  10. I have the Cannon Intelli Troll, it has been a good unit for us other than having a few antenna and coated cable issues. I like having the actual depth readout and ability to take it off easily.
  11. I like to run my inside riggers deeper but you could do it either way.
  12. Yea I figured that's what you were going for just thought I would give you some more to think about.
  13. Jon, the hardtop on our boat was custom made before we bought it and we have been pretty happy with it so far. The frame is made of aluminum tubing and has a skin of plexiglass on top and then a layer of fiberglass. The inside has just a layer of plywood. This may be different than what you had in mind but if you would like to see some more detailed pictures let me know and I will see what I can do.
  14. James, I'm glad you were able to get another boat, that had to be a tough day to swallow.
