  4. [quote name=cliftp;116064 So' date=' my friend brings out this point, If you go on a mile long troll for example, and your speed is 2.5 MPH, isn't your downrigger ball going to be at the same place as when you started, didn't the ball have to go 2.5 MPH too? Paul C. Here is what I would tell him. Take that same mile long troll at and troll up stream in a river at 2.5 mph on you gps. Are you lures going to be moving at 2.5 mph through the water as well... no they will be going faster depending on how fast the river is flowing. Your lures may have traveled the same distance over ground but through the water they had to go farther and faster. Like rivers the water in the great lakes is also moving, maybe not as fast as a river but certainly enough to change how your baits work. I would also show him this site which shows surface currents and explain that when you have a surface current you generally have a opposite current lower in the water column.
  5. Yes that would be feet of copper.
  6. I usually attach my board in the first couple feet of backing. I might loose a little bit of depth but this allows me to trim back just a couple feet at a time when I retie.
  7. Sounds like a good way to relax. Looks like that last guy had a pretty rough life!
  8. What a beast! Great fish Bromley!

  13. That's an awesome fish John! What did he end up weighing?
  14. The bank has been on fire this year from what I heard. Sturgeon bay is a great place to vacation Jim, you wouldn't be disappointed.
  15. The experience that I have had with fishing the full moon phase is that the morning bite is really short but the midday bite is better than average.
  16. After being busy all spring we finally made it out for our first trip of the year. We fished Saturday and Sunday AM from 6 to 12. On Sat. we had a mixed bag of kings and steel, and one coho and ended up 6 for 9. Our most productive water was in the 120's spread out in the water column with short cores on top, divers in the middle and 250 and 300 45# copper down deep. FF combos were working the best with white or chrome flashers and aqua or green flies. We also took a few fish with a jawbreaker spoon on a 3 color. On Sunday we had another mixed bag going 5 for 8 with 3 kings a steelhead and a laker. The kings we caught came in 70 to 100 FOW and the others came out in the 150's. Spoons worked the best for us on Sun. on 2, 3, and 7 color lead, and 150 copper. Wire divers back 100' also took a few hits with white paddles and green flies.
