  1. Nice looking bass Captain, thanks for the report.
  2. Great job Steve!
  3. I agree Jason, I would rather take the misses over just washing lures. Part of the problem was we had some newbies reeling and netting, but they had a good time and I enjoy showing people how to set gear and fight fish.
  4. Welcome Dave, good to have ya!
  5. Welcome to GLF Karl.
  6. Mon 8/6 On Monday we fished from 3:30 to 6:45 on a afternoon run going 6 for 9 on the day. We setup to the south of the can in 120 FOW and worked our way N. The standout for the day was a full core with a moonshine RV blue flounder which took the majority of our hits. Riggers also took one on a moonshine spoon down 65. Divers were quiet for us too but we did take a few rips on a high diver with a ITO fly and a white glow SD. Tuesday AM We set lines at about 5:30 in about the same spot as the previous day and before we could get our 4th rod set we were into a double. For the first hour or so it was hard to keep our divers in the water. Unfortunately our hit to land ratio wasn't very good on the day and we ended up 12 for 22 give or take. Divers were the hottest for us with white paddles and glow flies on the low divers back 90 to 130, and spin doctors and green flies on the high divers back 100 to 150. Riggers with spoons and flies also took a few hits from 50 to 65 down. For long lines the full core, 200, and 250 copper all took hits with moonshine spoons. At 11:00 we picked up our lines and headed in for lunch. Wednesday AM On Wed. morning we headed out to find the wind had switched to the North and it was a little rougher than I really wanted to troll into, so instead of starting south we started to the North and trolled south in 120 FOW. Before long we were into the fish again running pretty much the same setup as the day before with divers back 100 to 150 with FF combos, riggers down 50 to 60 with spoons and flashers and long lines with spoons. For long lines the full core, 200, and 150 copper took hits. We ended the day an bit early with some crew members that were starting to get green and headed in at 8:30 going 6 for 12.
  7. Dipsies work well on them, the outriggers give them a ton of action.
  8. Great video JB!
  9. Like these guys said the 30 series Okuma's with 1000' of wire should work for fine for Lake Michigan kings. You may also want to check out the JR Tackle wire line rods, no personal experience but I have heard good things about them.
  10. Running 4 wire is not a problem. As for setups it really depends on what your willing to spend on reels and rods and how much you are going to use them. For reels I have been using convectors and they have been working well for us but I would not go with a cheaper model. Wire reels take a lot of abuse and buying a better reel will be money well spent. For rods it depends on if you prefer rollers or guides, each has it's advantages and disadvantages. For wire there are lots of options but I have been using the 30# opti wire because it has a smaller diameter.
  11. I do the same thing, if you spray them off just before you take them out of the bucket it cleans them up really well.
  12. Welcome Tony, nice pics.
  13. I have been bleeding my salmon for a few years and it is completely worth it when its time to cut fish. I used to just rip the gills but now I just cut them since gills hanging out in pictures don't look very nice.
  14. Welcome to the site Justin, nice report and nice job on the fish! I was in Kewaunee from Mon - Wed and the fishing for us was pretty similar to what you had, I will put up a report tonight when I have more time.
  15. Great fish Captain!
  16. Welcome to the GLF Rob.
  17. Like Jim said make sure you have the weight to the correct side and the release clipped in, the weight should be towards the boat as the diver runs in the water. The length of rod isn't going to change much on how far to the side your divers run, maybe a foot give or take. There is also going to be a bow in the line which will make it look like it isn't running very far to the side. Trip you high diver once and reel it in quickly so it comes up to the surface, you will probably find that your diver is running further to the side than you thought.
  18. Nice job on the tourney Captain, and great looking fish!
  19. Looking good Jason, can't wait to see it on the boat!
  20. This is really sweet, bookmarked that page immediately. I hope I can get this on my phone!
