Let me guess dave. You asked Severus where the nets were! 3 years ago the same thing happened to me and Butch and spawned our alter egos Capt chaos and General dissaray. Fortunately we didn't lose any tackle even though we went 30 feet past the net markers. Slammed the boat in reverse and started winding like mad men. tackle, rods, and riggers all over the boat and 2 very tired fat men LOL!

Caz I've always used 3to1 on setting 3 and 2to1 on setting 1 as estimates. ie 150 feet of line on 3 equals 50 feet down. although i think the max you can hit on 3 is probably between 60 and 70 feet no matter how much line you put out. I usually start the morning at 90 for my high divers and 50 for my low divers. then let out 10-15 feet every 15 minutes or so until I hit a fish I rarely run my low diver past 115 feet of line and 250 feet on my highs. fyi my lows are wire but I think at those short distances the wire probably doesn't give me much more depth than superline. i just love my wire:D

Great to hear!!!!! Would hate to have a mistake cause any issues:) -
I have a friend that swears by running flasher/flies off the core. I can honestly say I've never tried it though. Can't bring myself to take the ghost J-plug off the core. That has been my goto rig the last 18 monthes. Before that it was a mag dbl orange crush fishing the endzone.

btw Thanks for your service to our country!

Boy I'm glad you cleared that up! To think I almost wasted time frequenting a site by someone who doesn't own a boat!!!!! ;) As a matter of fact the BEST big lake fisherman I know doesn't own a boat. And no it's not you GLF LOL:D

Started with a 30-06 in my youth. Then moved up to a 7 Mag because I used it out west. Won a 270 WSM in a raffle and used that one year. Then moved to a 700MLS for a few years and now a .44 Super Red Hawk. Took my first deer with the Red Hawk last year. I'll continue to use that for hunting in the swamp and the ML for more open country. I got scared one year because shooting the deer with a rifle left me feeling un excited. That's when I moved to the ML and eventually the Handgun. It brought more excitement to the actual shot. I wish I could bring my handgun up with me this year to ontario for bear hunting.

I'm a stockroom manager for Arrow Uniform Rental. My grandfather started it and I have been working here in one way or another since I was old enough to walk:)

Yeah Wayne I had one of those days last year at Manistee, just couldn't find em no matter what. Ended up they were 4 miles South of where I was. I was real happy we found that mark cause we couldn't pick up anything outside of it. Trolled from 70-112fow and hooked 7 out of 8 of our fish in exactly 101 fow within 1/2 mile of that spot. It was a small elbow in the bottom that was about 3 feet deeper than the area around it North and South. Found something similar in the spring around the A frames. It was a good sized hump and caught all our fish around it. Seems the fish congregate on those more than they do in other ports I've fished. I know GH has some wacky bottom south of the heads but I've never done better by that than any other area.

Yeah I heard your discussion with He Chris. Somehow you figured adding 10 points to both of our scores would somehow bring yours above mine, again proving why you should never handle the addition at these events:D

Fished the St.Joe tourney with Smoke73 and my second cousin on Sat. Ran out to where we had caught fish on Friday night. Oh yeah, went out Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30 and went 3-10. I was farming big time!!! ANyway Sat ran out to 80 fow 2 miles south of the piers and set down lines. First fish wasn't until around 7:30 being our big king for the day on a 5 color glow frog. trolled around a bit and then came by that point in 101 fow and picked up another. So we worked that point for the rest of the morning picking away at them. Saw a few boats pass through there and catch fish but none worked it as hard as we did. 2.4-2.5 at the ball was ourt speed. thermocline was between 30-40 down. 13lb king 5 color glow frog 7lb steelie full core ghost J plug 6 lb king on NBK 45 down 5lb king on white spinny green squid 90 out on three fire dipsey 3 kings right in a row on standard Jamican sunrise down 91 1 19inch laker was attached to the sunrise also as we were pulling lines Had 2 break offs One on a dipsey spinny and fly and one on the core. The core was a nice steelie on a j plug. Throw those J's out for the steel. Worked for us Thanks to smoke for being a good crew man. Even when things were slow he was on the job when one of the rods would pop! quick son of a gun My other crewman did his best but was feeling under the weather for a good part of the morning. Never wanted to go in though. Also want to put out thanks to Connie, shekris, and Steve for hospitality and yummy food. You all are awesome people!!!!

My pleasure Steve! Glad I finally got a chance to fish with you. Well every tournament has to have a last place and we were it:D Ran out to 24 FOW south of the point where we had done well before and so had a few others. After 2 hours of fishing and 3 fish to show for it we picked up and moved farther North. Ended up setting down unbeknownst right next to Catfishoge and hung out with him the rest of the morning. Fishing was comparatively slow for us all day with about 20 walleye landed. As we were going in we talked to Adjusted and he said he never left 21 feet. We slowed down in that area and saw the fishfinder loaded with fish!! We were 1/2 mile away from them most of the day!! UGH! Couldn't catch a fish on anything but spoons. We had 11 dozen crawlers on board and used 1 dozen:rolleyes: Last 2 fish of the day were our first on a harness and our first on a board LOL! Every thing else was spoons on dipseys Sorry I split so soon guys. Honestly if I hadn't have left the beers would have started flowing and then I wouldn't be able to leave;)
-
another question. I'm hesitant to run the meat off the dipseys cause it would be too long for netting. Are you running short leaders on the dipseys? My leaders are usually 7-8 so I'm guessing attaching the meat rig and spinnie would make it about 12 feet long. Hard to control these wild spring kings with 12 feet of gear out at the boat

Costs me approx $170 in gas to run to St Joe from over here on the east side. That's 2 1/4 tanks when pulling the boat. So I figure $60-$70 in gas for the boat if I'm running past 8 miles out. That's $240 in gas alone. I think I should just start doing drugs and save some money:eek: Still don't think they'd provide the rush of a triple header though!!

Makowish and I fished from 7:30 to 11:30 from 14 to 43 FOW. Had one release on a rigger and landed one small coho on a two color off the boards with a red latterback thunderstick in 18FOW. Nice day on the water with sunshine and 1 footers
