Alert! West michigan fishing league important
tgafish replied to Sixshooter's topic in West Michigan Fishing League
Don't worry it wasn't a hostile take over or anything:D Runnning these events and the league is a huge time commitment and Caz had asked for some help. Sixshooter graciously offered his help. Jim is one of the original members of the league and has helped behind the scenes for a while now. You guys are in good hands:nhl_crach: -

2008 Dreamweaver and Big Jon Chairty Fun Event (Its The Final Thing)

Not sure on the max people. But the no release rule has always meant fish landed unless that changed this year. That means any legal fish brought to the boat must be kept, even shakers. -
Muskegon 7-4am

Yessir:D But it came unbuttoned It was the last rod to go in our triple header and that stupid rookie rod holder lost the fist while we were attending to the others:rolleyes: -
Sorry for the late report. Went up north right after getting home from fishing. 5am-10am went 6-9 just north of the pierheads. 5 kings one throw back laker. Had a triple before the sun came up only landing the wire dipsey fish. Then slowly picked away at fish. 70-90 were our best depths. We stayed shallower than 95% of the boats all day and it sounded like we did better than most. 5 out of 9 hits were before the sun came up. No real pattern except we never took a hit deeper than 42 down except the laker and all hits were on spoons. Tried meat, 8,10,11 inch flasher fly and squids. Nada Riggers took 5 hits wire dipsey took 2 1/2 core took 1 7 color took 1 blanks on 10 color, copper, and power pro dipseys Fleas were the worst I have ever experienced. Even had them on the wire. Tip for those who don't know is to reel the fleas up until you cant reel anymore and repeatedly and violently slap your tip into the water. It will quickly removes most of the fleas. Found 3 sets of nets out in 124 fow just North. They were marked extremely well.

Hit the water at 6:30 fully expecting to be back in at 9. Not so much. Took our first in 110 before we could get our second rod set. Then we trolled til 10:30 going 5 for 6 the entire morning. Tried 110-200 fow 25-95 down. 3 Hits on 300 30lb copper doctored blue puke 1 on mix veg 57 down 1 on jmaician sunrise 60 down 1 on coyote down 57 Nothing on 5 color, 10 color, 45lb copper, or wire dipsey. Changed up quite a bit. Started 1 mile north of PS and ended up 1-2 miles south of GH 1 6lb. Rest were 2-4

Fish are still out there and biting. Went 8 for 13 in 4 hours. 6 kings, laker, and a steel. Just run your normal spring patterns in normal spring depths. Nothing special to report. Did have a nice flurry after the sun went under the water. Good luck to all

A little miscommunication Randy:D I think we were all concentrating on the waves:eek:

Haha I've got loads of them. Leaving a WML event in Muskegon my friend and I wanted to fish that afternoon. He said meet in GH, I thought he said whitehall. I was already to Whitehall exit when he called and asked where the heck I was:o Pulling rods out of the holders I dumped a brand new full core setup that I had never used because the reel handles locked. Slowly watched it sink away:( Just last weekend as we were switching from dipseys to core my crew asked if I always ran 2 snubbers on my wire. They were unaware that I keep a snubber on my wire when not in the water to avoid pigtails so they just sent it out with the extra snubber in front of the Dispey:lol:

Those moments are killers aren't they:D Last week buddy and I are out on SCR and the motor keeps bogging-running-bogging-running like it's thirsty for gas. Couldn't figure it out but she got us back to the launch OK. Get the boat pulled out and look at the gas tank that looks like a raisin. Forgot to open the vent! The worst one is tearing the boat apart going nuts as to why it won't start and then finally realizing the kill switch got knocked down. The first time was bad but the second time I felt:crazy:

OK The distance your fishing line and release goes down the planer line is contolled by how much line your let out from your reel. Once your release has gone down to the area you want it just engage your reel and it's stuck there.

You're gonna hate yourself for asking this:grin: Gotta run but I'll answer shortly if someone else doesn't

South Haven 5/15-5/18

And you can bet that no matter what paperwork was signed, if a boat goes down the organizers are going to have a lawsuit on their hands. -

Tempted fate Sunday morning and went out from 8-11:30 out of PS. Waves were 3-4 early but definitely got worse:eek: The return trip through the pierheads was one of the hairiest I've ever seen! black white kitty fwiw. Only ran 6 lines and could not get any kind of reliable speed with the waves. 195-135 fow. Temps were 42-45 degrees -
I just received a meat rig from Big Weenie with Owner hooks. Man those things are dangerous sharp:eek:

Dreamweaver & Big Jon Charity Fun Tournament Challenge
tgafish replied to caznik's topic in Tournaments
For everyone who has signed up I just wanted to let you know that the drop dead date for getting me T-shirt sizes is June 13. I already have 7 teams that have sent me their info. No rush because I understand sometimes it's hard to lock down a crew but in order to get everything done on time I have to cut the date off at that time. For any team that doesn't get me sizes by the 13th I'll be ordering 3 shirts per team in random sizes with most being XL to cover you the best I can. Thanks again for signing up and helping a families dream come true!!
