  1. Rock on buddy! Wasn't even thinking of midnight. I remember my time as a kid in the late 70's early 80's fishing the Petosky pier at night dreaming of having a boat to catch those fish past my casting range.
  2. Go ahead and give it a try Dave. Once was enough for me. Fishing is about relaxing and having a good time and none of those is in store for you unless you can embrace the insanity:nhl_fight:
  3. Dave it's the Blue NBK chrome spin doctor. I buy the clear UV tape from Big Weenie and add it on. It's pre-cut to go on the spin doctors. Been a pretty good setup for the past 2 years for me
  4. Headed out this morning with an old college buddy and was able to get him on his first salmon. 6 rod spread All fish in 110-115 3-6 miles North. NE-NW troll 9 and 10 lb king wire 1 1/2 180 out 8 inch Blue bubble SD/fly 12lb King and 4 lb laker 300 copper 8 inch mountain dew SD/fly approx 4lb king lost 100 down 10 inch Blue killer w/ UV tape/ blue dolphin fly Ran a few spoons and j plugs with no takers. No bites early morning. Took our first hit at 8am. Surface temps 72-70. No probe today
  5. Going out tomorrow am. Any tourney reports from in closer Jim? Any size to the fish out deep? Thanks!
  6. Your probe is right Jim
  7. Yup thanks for joining Tim. My first time out of Holland. Love the cleaning station but the no wakes and the parking lot were enough to send me back to PS from now on. Pretty cool to see a few boats names at the launch I recognized:) We were where the fish were we just didn't have the mojo I guess. Figured out last night that a number of my flashers and J's have lost their glow:(
  8. The fish aren't always where they are "supposed" to be. They are where they are. I drive over wayyyy too many fish and kick myself every time. Run a J plug all year long
  9. Yup. Pulled a good ole Archie Bunker rant.
  10. I have to humbly disagree with you on this. I can turn a 32 four winns just as tight as a 22 Islander. And if it's amount of lines out, I can run 15 on my 22. I know guys that run 12 rods off of 17 footers. So I would say courtesy rules more than tonnage rules;)
  11. Jim you did a pretty good job of summing up what I tried to say at the weigh in. No matter who fished or not. No matter who won prizes or not(I'm still blanked for 3 years). Everybody who took part from the participants to the sponsors were winners on Sat:thumb: The fishing aspect gives everybody an excuse to go out and do something they love to do. This is the first time in 7 years we've had a weather issue and we stress every year over it. We were so happy to see the outcome we hoped for. People who were comfortable fished. People who weren't didn't. In the end we had some fish to weigh, some places to pay out with raffle tix, a trophy presented, some bragging rights, and a whopper to win big fish. And those that didn't even fish cleaned up on some prizes. Thanks again for all your help in getting us some sponsors this year Jim. And thanks to Mike and all the members of this site for helping us help the families you got to meet Sat. Hope to see you all next year or sooner
  12. Yup you're right Kevin. Forgot the cyclonite has the black. Definitely a HI-NRG
  13. Blue tequila sunrise cyclonite
  14. your regular balls will work fine. Biggest challenge is getting the release set right. And even when you do, you need to check regularly for draggers
  15. They're out there Kevin. My biggest til yesterday was 8.5. 2 out of our three were teeners last night
  16. Man that sucks!
  17. Nothing to be embarrassed about. In fact you taught me something with your report;)
  18. Great job on the fish. Your "lakers" are actually brown trout. A good find this time of year:)
  19. Ran straight out and put down in 60 fow. River water was 72 and quickly dropped to 57 100 yards from the pier, down to 49 in 60fow. Got a rip right away on a rigger down 45 with a tin can/spoon combo. Farmed it. Nice rip on a 5 color blue whale. Farmed. Short rip on a full core stingray NBK. Off:mad: 0-3 in first hour 60-90fow. Trolled out to 240 and back in. Took 2 small kings. One on the fore mentioned full core and 54 down on a rigger blueberry muffin. That was it. 6am-11:15 Water was gorgeous with temps breaks and slicks everywhere. Should have been slaying them. Surface temps were 47 in close to 51 out deep. Down temps dropped fast at 44 down 20 and then 42 all the way down past that. Tried 2.2 to 3.1 mph. Took most hits at 2.4 SOG. 1 mile south to 1 mile north Marked a bait ball in 92 fow and a few fish in 85-145 but never got a mark to bite Moving the boat to Erie until the second week of July. Good luck out there fellas:thumb:
  20. We were the guys pulling the small covered boat you were talking to on the road on the way back:bye:
  21. Launched at 5:30. Set down in 60 straight out. First fish as setting the second rod. Got 4 in the first 2 hours and then picked away at 4 more until about noon. 8 for 9 total. No real program. Fish hit all presentations running 6 rods from a 1/2 core to 76 down. All kings from shakers to 13lbs. Green and blues for colors. Surface temps were 47-49. 85-100 fow was where we got bit
  22. Phil if you guys want to go back out in the morning I'm looking for a crew!
