  1. Nailers and the last 2 post are correct. The new treating process embeds a high concentration of alkaline copper quaternary into the material and will have a galvanic (dissimilar metal) corrosion effect with aluminum. Some of the reactions (2 & 3) in the attached chart need outside conditional factors to thrive with the main factor being moisture. #1 which you will see is a condition of aluminum & copper contact in which corrosion will occur with no other factors considered other than direct contact.
  2. I am going to try these baits in superior this year, when the ICE decides to blow out:mad:, for early coho and see if they like them as much as they seem to in Lake Michigan. Question is, which manufacturer do you prefer and what color patterns seem to be consistently the top producers?

  16. Welcome to GLF Kev!
  17. Thanks for the idea on the bead guys. I always just reeled it up and hooked my snap to the rod tip.
  18. Pictured rocks to grand marais is the best as far as hiking goes and Daybreak is the guy that is going to put you on the fish in Marquette. Got to try stannard rock. It is an unforgettable experience.
  19. Copper is a PAIN in the a$$, but catches fish later in the day after the hot bite when nothing else seems to. Hardly worth the trouble unless you are running tourneys because it isn't even that much fun yanking all that heavy line with a fish on. Wire divers are a must in my book though!!
  20. Welcome to GLF Noah!!
  21. Electrics can be much more convenient, coupled with auto stops when the fishing is hot and heavy. They are not a necessity for a beginner IMO. I fished with manuals for years before i had electrics. As RodM said the majority of our fish seem to come off of the dipsy's, lead core and copper off the boards and this is the program that is not near as simple to run as the DR's and takes some time to figure out. I would take the money you save on buying manuals out of the gate and deal with the little bit of extra work and concentrate on the rest of your program because that is where the majority of the work and cost are in this type of fishing. This is just the way i see it though:thumb: Good luck! Welcome to GLF and the sickness that come with big lake fishing:grin:
  22. Anybody here ever target browns in superior? I know they are here from catching them time to time. Seems like if there is any type of population here that lake Michigan tactics would hold true in superior as well. Any thoughts??
  23. We still use squids in the early am with a little sushi and a 1" glow stick tied inside the body with great sucess in superior and northern lake michigan. Still a few others i know that use them but not many it seems anymore.
  24. I second that on Lambeau field and that is coming from a die hard detroit fan that goes every year with all packer fans! Brutal....I know!! I have been at the packer lion game in lambeau for around 13 years in a row now and we have tickets on the 50 yd line 9 rows up behind the pack. May have been sitting right behind you! If you remember the crazy yoopers.....that was us!
